Being sick and brining up Bone
« on: March 12, 2011, 04:49:08 PM »

Hope I have put this in right place.    Have posted on another thread but a bit worried. Gave Dylan a raw lamb bone this afternoon and he has been sick a few times throwing up small pieces of bone . He went out into the garden and was eating grass.  Anything else I can do?

Mine tend to be sick after lamb bones.
Is it the first time he has had raw bones ?
They sometimes come out the other end too if they don't get digested.
Just keep an eye on him.

He has been having chicken wings for awhile. first lamb bone did take off fat first . They are good size chunks of bone he is bringing up.  Though he is in the kitchen now waiting for his tea.   Should I feed him his kibble tonight or leave it?

Was it a rib? these are usually softer.

If you think he has brought it all up, you could give him some kibble.

Raw and kibble digest at different rates and could give him tummy ache.

You could wait a while longer then feed him, if he is OK.

I wouldn't worry about him sicking up the bone, mine have quite a lot.
Better to do that than constipate them.

was going to feed them their kibble later than normal .  Left a  good gap between their breakfast and feeding them the raw bone.  Was wide piece of bone and not too large, but not small enough for him to swallow whole.     He seems to have stopped being sick at the moment.

Mine sometimes do this after both pork or lamb ribs, but only if the ribs have been on the small side.  I tend to stick to larger ribs as I think the small ones at the end sometimes get swallowed whole  :o

He has been sick again.   Left the kibble tonight and cooked him some white fish. I feel terrible now for feeding him the bone.    Have run out of simple solutions the carpets have taken a bashing today.

Well Dylan seems okay this morning. Not been sick overnight and did a very firm poo this morning.   Just given him fish and a small amount of kibble to see how he goes, just in case he is sick again.     Think I will have to try lamb ribs next time.    Jessie was fine she has taken to raw bones and wings just fine, also she is a slower eater.

William's had lamb ribs, only small quantities, a couple of times and sicks them up, so they're off the menu for him now. I think that even with much of the fat removed they're still too rich and fatty for him. Louis was fine with them.

Pleased to hear that Dylan is feeling better this morning :D

He is like William sensitive stomach, thought he would be okay with the fat removed.   Stayed up to nearly twelve last night before I settled them for the night he was still being sick later in the evening.    Just finnished cleaning the carpet  oh well and excuse to get them properly cleaned.
