Glucosamine for joints
« on: February 15, 2019, 10:24:20 AM »
Hi all,

Does anyone give human glucosamine supplements to their dogs to help with sore joints? They seem a lot cheaper than the dogs specific products. The ingredients are comparable and doesn't appear anything in them that would be harmful to dogs...

Thanks

I think a lot of folk do, and as you say much cheaper specially if you can get to a Holland & Barrett shop whilst their 1p sale is on  ;)

Sounds like a good idea.

Are they the same dosage?

Don't know Joules, I don't use them myself - Minstrel has Fish4Dogs Mackerel Morsels for Skin, Coat and Joints, easier to give him a biscuit that he enjoys scrunching. Just thought I had seen that other folk do use them.

Well, even the hooman ones don't work for me and I've taken a bucketful (not all at once!).  Maybe I might have more luck with the Fish4Dog ones...  :lol2:

Have you looked at golden paste?  You can buy it from the Golden Paste Company or make your own.

Also raw chicken feet (you can buy them from a chinese supermarket) contain glucosamine x

I don't give my two anything yet but a discussion on our breeders fb page gave the following recommendation:
Nutrimove and Riaflex which were considered to be better than Yumove. Much to ponder!
Lesley, Maddie and Bramble
