Title: NESSR: The lovely Lily, 10 months old, Scotland - still looking!
Post by: crazyspaniels on April 15, 2007, 10:06:24 PM
Here is the beatiful Lily
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/crazyspaniel/LilyandDobbie.jpg) (the one on the right)
Bigger head shot
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d165/CotswoldGirl/lily1.jpg (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d165/CotswoldGirl/lily1.jpg)
Lily is 10 months old and currently being fostered by me for NESSR.
She is black and is neutered, chipped and vaxed.
Lily is looking for an active home with another dog in residence, ideally young and playful because she loves the company. She is used to children but due to some food issues she will not be rehomed with young children.
She is really smart and learns quickly - she was at heelwork to music class with me and is a natural
She is currently in central Scotland and any home will be thoroughly checked, there will be a legally binding NESSR contract and full back up.
Please PM if interested :luv:

When I first read this I thought it was reading " If you still have her at the end of the month I'll have to meet her "  :o

Maybe it was a premonition  :shades:  ;)

I am sooooo jealous of the people who get her.

I hope things work out. If not give me a shout and i'll see if i can convince the OH.
She looks a lot like Baylo so maybe i could try and sneak her in :005:
I might be seeing Tracy at the weekend so she can fill me in and make me even more envious of the people who got her.
I know i am saying these things but i am not really looking for another dog, but if the right dog came up you never know.
I have to convince Mrs Top Barks which may be a problem. >:(

Awwww Mark I am so sorry  :005: We saw Lilly and just had to act fast as I knew there would be stiff competition on here  ph34r.
We had sort of decided maybe one cocker would have to do us as we have had a little tough luck finding a new black baby, I hardly look at the rescue pages (can't bear to see sad little faces) But I did the other evening there she was  :luv: :luv:
Have caravan will travel so we are off up to meet her, stay for a few days to give the girls chance to make friends, then hopefully home Sunday as proud parents of Two lovely girls.
I have never thought of HWTM but am going to see if there is anyone local to me here and see if I can give it a go, I have two left feet but we can try  :embarassed:

Well just this one last sleep  :005: well I am going to bed, sleep just might not come, this past couple of days have been the longest of my life.  ;)
That 273 miles from here to Freya's is going to seem the longest way as well I sure but it is all going to be well worth the wait (everything crossed)
Will be off line during our 4 day visit but I am sure Freya will keep you all posted on out progress  ;)

Just off to try and remove some of the pond smell and make Lily look appealling while we wait for Jackie to get settled in her new home at a local caravan park :D

ph34r Jackie just phoned as I was loading bags of dog food into the shed, so I went in to answer the phone as Lily barged past Bilbo so see if she could manage to open a bag herself - big mistake, she got a thorough telling off which involved growling and screaming and then crying and huffing - all this as I spoke to poor Jackie on the phone as she was ordering some lunch, bet she's ditched the lunch and they are driving as fast as they can to come and save Lily from the horror she has to endure in my house ph34r ph34r You all know how loud a cocker can scream, well miss Lily certainly let rip

unfortunately Lily has taken exception to life in a caravan and her and Maddie have decided they are not very keen on each other after all. Jackie is not going to risk taking Lily back down to Nottingham because if she didn't settle then it would be unfair on Lily as she needs to come back to me rather than another foster home, keep Jackie in your thoughts as she is heart broken  :'(

Hi evryone,

Thanks for all you lovely messages, I am still crying my heart out, she is so beautiful but once Freya wasn't around and it was just the 4 of us Lily seemed quite tense which I expected and as Freya had explained she had a bit of a treat/food aggression that didn't worry us, we are both around 24/7 and felt we could deal with it but once in the confines of the caravan I think she felt very threatened Maddy picked up on it and from then on you could have cut the tension between them with a knife.
I am so heartbroken I have a lovely photo of the two of them together cuddling into me I thought there was not going to be the slightest problem with them, sadly that all deteriated badly during the night and next morning.
I felt I couldn't risk Maddy's sunny nature and getting Lily all the way down here for it not to work out, she was so excited to see Freya and her hubby after just 24 hours, I felt very inadequate   :'(
Mark she really would blossom with you I am sure  :luv:
I am glad you all agree I have done the right thing, my heart said take her home but my head won in the end and I did what I felt was the best for Lily, for Maddy and us :'( :'(
She will remain in our hearts as though she really had been our dog forever  :luv: :'(

This is how we felt when we let Mikey go after fostering him for a couple of weeks last year.  We know it was the best decision for us, Milo and Mikey, but it still hurts and you really wish it could have been different.   :-\  We still miss Mikey now and often talk about him and wonder how he's doing.  Lily's forever home is just around the corner, I'm sure, it's just such a shame it couldn't be with you guys.   :-\  Thinking of you.

We brought home a lovely whippet cross when we were looking and we bonded with her soo much in just the few days she was here - with the exception of my son who was terrified of her because she was too lively, she'd jump over the back of the settee from stand still and son resorted to staying in his room, despite some advantages of this, the dog was supposed to help get over his fears in leaving the house and we were heart-broken to return her.

Everything for a reason as soon after that we found Jasper and you lot  :luv:

Jackie, I am so sorry it didn't work out.
I would love her and she would do just great here but I have to think of my marriage especially as Bayley has just trampled mud all over the newly shampooed carpet in the lounge. >:D( Mrs Top Barks was not impressed.)
I reckon I'll be out in a kennel if I broach the subject of a fourth mess monster! :005:
She is indeed stunning and she will not take long to find a home I'm sure.
I wish it was with me, but it is impossible at the moment. :'(
Are you not tempted to keep her Freya? :luv:
I think I ask this question of you everytime you post a rescue stunner on here. ;)

Jackie again I'm so sorry that things didn't work out with Lily and Maddie. I know exactly what you mean with this statement as Tilly really did feel like my dog from the very first moment I saw her, I don't know why but she was just 'mine' and from the moment she got home it was like she'd always been here so if for whatever reason I hadn't been able to keep her I'd have been absolutely heartbroken. Although of course if I'd been in the same situation as you where she and Alfie didn't get on then of course I would have had to do what was best for Alfie as you have done for Maddie. Thinking of you  :-* :-*

I too was in tears over a golden cocker that never worked out about 3 years ago now.
He took a chunk out of Doug within a week which needed veterinary treatment and I decided it wasn't fair on him.
I think you have been very brave and responsible in making the right choice for your doggie.

Lily is reavailable for homing. She was with Freya at the Game Fair last weekend and is such a lovely girl, I'm sure she will find another home very soon.

thanks Penny, she is not suitable to live with children but is an amazing little dog who would excell at anything, easily trainable (though didn't take to squirrel shooting with Mr CS, reckon he was trying to find an excuse to keep her :005:) and fab with other dogs and loves everyone she meets. Very special home required with no kids, someone who knows cockers and understands them and doesn't have too many close neighbours cos she has quite a voice :005:

Hi Freya

Have been working away, so unable to get my usual fix of COL and missed this update on Lily. My original offer still stands, though I appreciate that Lily may be better placed with someone who does not work full-time.

Really sorry Rhona that things did not work out for you - she really looked like one of the family when we met at Chatelherault.

thanks Ailsa, she would not cope with someone working full time, she has been offered a great home but it wouldnt be for 6 weeks and thats going to be hard on Matt and I as we love her to bits and just get more attatched, she is so happy with us but its just not practical for us to have 5 dogs ::)

No probs - thought as much myself. Twix copes fine with the dog walker, but she is such a laid back wee dog that she takes anything in her stride! 5 dogs? Seems quite reasonable to me!!

Is Lily still available? My OH thinks it's to soon to get another, but I miss having my spaniels and now that Ehtel's gone the house is so empty and we have so much to offer a homeless dog/s.  Let me know if you think we would be suitable to adopt lily?

I have spoken to my partner and if Lily can wait until the begining of July then we would love to adopt her. I know it's a lot to ask, but we will both be out of the Country until then, so I wouldn't want to adopt her and then have to leave her at home with a dog sitter for several weeks.

If this is possible then We could offer her a secure and loving home, where she would be in the hands of experienced owners of Cocker Spaniels. vShe would have access to a weekend home in the coutryside and a home with garden in London during the week. She would be insured and would have, at least several holidays a year in the Lake District.

In terms of Lily's issues, all our previous cockers have had some issues or another. Be it food or toy or even owner possessiveness, and not to forget the  stroppy and  tempremental behaviour rages, either way We have dealt with these issues and have ended up with loving and devoted cockers.

Hi all, thought i'd let you all know how Lily is getting on in her new and final home! We've had her for 2 weeks now and shes eventually settled down. Was touch and go for a while as she was being a right little monster but we persevered and luckily its helped. She's still as mad as ever though! She now lives with a bouncy lurcher who she bosses about and two doting humans as well as some small furries.

Lilypad now lives a life of luxury as top dog in my doggy daycare centre in Edinburgh. Lots of dogs to play with and humans to cuddle her.  So far she is very happy with us and we adore her. She's a huge cuddle monster and knows exactly how to get your attention. Angelic looks but devilish personality!! She's managed to wiggle her way into sleeping with us too. ASBO barking in the kitchen caused that! Poor wee lily had a traumatic time last week though. Got stung by lots of wasps on Tuesday then caught a bug going round on Thurs/Fri (lots of vomiting and the runs!) She's back to her normal silly self now though. We met Nicola and her 3 spaniels today and had a great time watching them all playing together. Lily was very well behaved and not too bossy with them, Merlin (our lurcher) needs to stand up for himself with her! The two of them are now flat out, absolutely knackered for once thanks to Nicola's three!

Will post some pics soon hopefully if Freya and the rest of you would like to see them!

Jo and Lily xx

Hiya, you made it then! I PM'd Freya to say that I'd bumped into you and Lilypad today :luv:  It was great to meet you... small world eh? Mine are all out for the count as well, Tilly paraded her ball all the way back to the car and the other two didn't get a look in  :005:  They all had a ball playing though and it was great watching them.

Merlin is just gorgeous and Lily looks so happy with her new family, it was really lovely to see her again and to meet you  :D
