Title: Tammy at Wiccaweys - almost blind golden cocker.
Post by: CarolineL on May 20, 2007, 12:11:34 PM
http://www.wiccaweys.co.uk/start.html (http://www.wiccaweys.co.uk/start.html)

Im not sure if anyone remembers Tammy from Limerick Animal Welfare but she will be finding her way to the UK soon courtesy of Wiccaweys and she needs a home. She is absolutely beautiful but has suffered a great deal. I think it would be so lovely to see her rehomed via COL and watch her blossom.  :luv:  :luv: :luv: OH won't be convinced..... is there anyone out there who can give her a home!!!

This is what they have to say about her.....

'Tammy is a beautiful Golden Cocker who is coming to Wiccaweys from our friends at Limerick Animal Welfare. Tammy is around eight years old. Tammy was found wandering aimlessly around a housing estate. Tammy had huge matts of knotted hair hanging from her ears. Her rear quarters were also very matted.

The knots on Tammy's ears were so heavy that when she walked her head almost touched the ground. Tammy was such a sad sight. When she was picked up, it was realised she could not see. Nobody in the estate recognised Tammy.

The vet diagnosed her as having cataracts in both eyes. Tammy has little or no vision. Tammy was sedated to have the knots removed. The knots on her ears weighed 1.5lbs. Tammy is a very sweet affectionate girl. She will put her head on your lap for cuddles. She craves affection and reassurance '  :'(

THEN  :'(  >:(

What a beautiful beautigul girl.  How can these people do things like this.  That type of knots dont develop in 5 mins.   Those eyes, she is just right for a cuddle.  If only i had a bigger house and could take her.  I really hope she finds her forever home soon.

Hi everyone

I have just had a pm from Liz who has unfortunately not been able to take Tammy.

She did say however that it was nothing to do with Tammy at all and she is 'an angel on four legs' and a real 'cuddle monster'

So if ANYONE out there wants to give a blind golden oldie a home for her last few years please get in touch with Wiccaweys

She has really stolen my heart  :luv:  :luv:.

I may even have a chat with OH - even though another dog wasnt really on the agenda  ::)

Hi, I would be very interested in Tammy, I was adopted by Thomas nearly a month ago (doesnt time fly when your having fun :luv:)
he too was in a terrible condition but has come on in leaps and bounds, do you think it would be too soon to adopt another? I want to do what is best for both dogs, I am just going to have a peep at the wiccaweys web site now and maybe phone them for a chat

Hi Michelle, no advice sorry, but its was really nice to bump into you yesterday (how weird!). Thomas is a total babe  :luv: totally mellow and unfazed by a stranger cudding him, unlike the ever impatient Betty  ::) You've done a great job with him! Good Luck what ever you decide  :D

I have just spent the last 10 minutes on the phone to Wiccaweys... Tammy sounds like an angel and absolutely adorable.

I have been completely honest with them about my current situation including the fact that Hurley sometimes gets left on his own during the day although we do have a dogsitter that we can/do use.

I am going to have a chat with the person who is fostering her and see how she might get on in our house.

Turns out that OH had already called about her too!!  :005:  :005:

Tammy is also being homechecked for some other people who are going to see her on Thursday  :'(  :'(

Obviously it may not work out but there is the chance that it will and I think I will be a bit sad if it does.

Perhaps it is the selfish part of me that wants her for me, but I also want the best home for Tammy, which Im sure Wiccaweys will ensure she gets.

Whatever will be, will be. (I just hope that the home is with me)  :-\

I was gutted but as it turned out they went to see her and decided she wasn't for them (clearly they had no taste whatsoever  :005:) and I got the call! So if it's meant to be it'll be  ;) :luv:

Same with Jack - the people forgot to tell Sylvia that they had cats, and Jack does love to chase small furries - even miniature dogs (he doesn't see too well........).

This little girl has stolen my heart  :luv: .

The other people have had their homecheck and passed and they are going to see her today, so it all depends on whether or not they get on with her and whether the rescue think she would be good with them.

I have my homecheck on Sunday, which, even if they do get her I will still go ahead with, just in case anything changes.......

I think I said on my previous post I will be sorely disappointed if she doesnt come home to us but I do want the best home for Tammy and if its with the people who got in there first then so be it!!  ::)

She has stolen my heart too - I will tell the people at Wiccaweys to let any owner know about COL so that we may get to hear about her in the future if I dont get her.

Caroline, I really really really hope everything works out for you, I keep checking on here for the latest, it must be 100 times worst for you. Are they going to phone you if Tammy isn't taken? if they do make sure no one else is going to see her, so you dont have to go through all this again. If only Tammy knew just how many people had her in their hearts at the moment  :luv:

Tammy went to her new home today  :D  :'(

I got a text from Wiccaweys a few minutes ago.

Obviously I am absolutely over the moon for her and her new owners but a little bit sad that it wasnt us.

Just want to say a big thanks to all my fellow COLers for all their support during this  :D

Oh I know someone who has a pair to go together :005:

me too Nic but it just wasnt meant to be

She has probably gone to a home where there IS someone at home all day, where they're not planning on moving house in a few months time, where there's no hyper Hurley boy to annoy her and there's no little Mo Cat to eat all her food  ;)

Wiccaweys know that if anything happens to her to get in touch with me and our offer still stands... so you never know!

Thats an awful dissapointment for you Caroline but you are a star. You had her best interests at heart and at least she has a new forever home where she will be happy. Another one will come along that will be the right one for you and probably when, once again, you are not even looking.  :-*

I''m sorry too. It's good that Tammy  :luv: now has her forever home and will want no more  :D  -and that is what it is all about in the end, as you say.

However you know what it really means don't you?

It means that there is another waif who needs you even more than Tammy.

Nothing comes to us without good reason  ;)

Caroline, what about Kenzie at Many Tears?  She is adorable too and desperate for a loving home.  Would she be suitable for you?

Bad luck Caroline - it obviously was not meant to be this time.  :-\  Lucky Tammy though to have 2 people who wanted her  :D

Still, there seem to be plenty of lovely rescue cockers looking for a forever home  :shades:
