How sad for you  :'( :'(

I can't add anymore to what has been said except that I think have done something completely selfless.

Take care, thinking of you :luv:

Lyn, don't be so hard on yourself.  You will feel heartbroken for a long while yet but you have made the right decision.

I made that same decision 14 years ago with my 3 yr old Golden Retriever.  I remember really breaking my heart as the door shut when his new family drove away with him ......................... eye's leaking at the memory even now  :'(

I know in my heart that it was the right thing to do, and I think you do to.

lyn - big hugs to you.

You have done the right thing for Paddy and that in itself is highly commendable. It is one of the most unselfish things that an owner can do and you are putting his needs before your own.

Im sure in time it will become easier and  you can take comfort in the fact that he is happy. Hopefully you will find the strength to see him, if that's what you want.

Oh goodness Lyn, i am so sorry.  You made the right decision, you could have held on to Paddy, but you chose to give him a happier life, and that means that you are suffering now.  I wouldn't go and visit Paddy just yet.  When I put my horse out on loan I didn't go and visit him for a year.  I went to visit him 18 months ago (10 years after putting him out on loan) and broke down in tears, real painful tears so leave it a while until you feel up to it.

Really feeling for you right now :'(

Lyn

You certainly won't get condemnation from me.  You have put the happiness of your dog above yourself and ensured that he got a good home  - what on earth is there to condem?

As someone who has rescues and rehomes, I can honestly say that, generally, those dogs who come from loving homes settle far easier in a new home.

Don't beat yourself up.

Best wishes

Helen
