I think the current economic situation is affecting sales. I know Mali's breeder is finding it a nightmare to find homes for her new litter.

good gawd i was only away from the comp for a minute, just shows you mention pups and away you lot go. i dont know the fall story just that we have 5 of them we need to get them sorted quickly as unfortunatly they are going into kennels, not good i know but i cant foster 5 17 week old nutty puppies, i think i would go bonkers. i really doubt she has done much training silly woman all round but what can you do, um well as usual pick up the pieces. would you like me to post some more squishy puppy piccies. tracey

You do a fab job Tracey. These pups are making my heart melt. London isn't really that far from Cumbria is it  :huh:

A BYB is short for Backyard breeder; someone who breeds their pet dog for a bit of extra cash, or for the experience - and they have little if any knowledge of bloodlines, health testing or what makes a good example of the breed. they often mate their bitch with a convenient dog, rather than one that compliments the bitch in terms of genetics, temperament and conformity and as a result, the pups can be at risk of health problems, or challenging in terms of temperament.

It is a shame that breeders are finding it hard to home litters; I imagine that even reputable breeders (who usually have homes lined up before the mating) may have had people back out on them if their financial circumstances have changed; I know I would give up a deposit, rather than take on a puppy if I faced the risk of redundancy, for instance :-\

byb = Back Yard Breeder.

There seems to loads of cockers for sale at the moment, I think you're right - people haven't got the money to take on a puppy with the uncertainty of the current economic climate.   and whether they'll actually have jobs soon - I know its starting to worry me jobwise.
