Update from the MT site 27-03-09

:luv:  How can anyone resist that face

Ham is doing very well so far. He especially thanks whichever kind but forgetful volunteer left their leather glove here - it's made a perfect sling!

I'm just wondering what caused his legs to go like that?

Asking because I once put a lovebird's egg under a broody budgie (lovebirds were destroying their eggs for some reason) and the budgies hatched and brought up the lovebird's egg but the baby lovebird ended up with legs like that (I surmised because the budgies were not feeding it the right stuff - vitamin deficiency_).  Anyway, I splinted the poor baby lovebird's legs just like the pup, and eventually its legs grew straight and it became normal, flew, and grew exceptionally bolshie.

That was years ago and wouldn't do it now.

Ahh bless.... :luv: I know of somebody that had a swimmer, they used to swim the pup in the bath to strengthen it's legs. Hope he gets on alright  :D

Bless the wee soul  :luv: There is loads of information on swimmer pups via Google. I have heard that it is more common in singleton litters because the puppy gorges itself and becomes so fat it can't support it's own weight, although I suppose that's not always the case. I hope he finds a wonderful home and he's a lucky boy having wonderful people invested in making him better  ;)

The reason dogs have so many friends is because they wag their tails instead of their tongues.

In kittens, this tends to be due to the shape of the rib cage and is usually a genetic abnormality.  Unfortunately, not many make it due to pneumonia. :'( Hope this little lad survives.

I really admire people like you who do this valuable rescue work. It breaks my heart to see animals like this puppy. I could not do it, I would end up with too many animals, plus I would loose my temper with the people responsible, even though I know you must bite your tongue or they would not let you take any more dogs off them.(puppy farmers). Again many thanks for the wonderful work you do. Its time a bit of lottery money was made available for animal charities.

Ditto - it must be so hard, rewarding and sometimes heartbreaking to do, but such brilliant, fulfilling work.  :luv:

I so hope this little pup gets better and goes on to live a long, healthy, happy life.  :luv:
