Nimble at Many Tears (12 week old Deaf puppy)
« on: August 06, 2010, 08:31:38 PM »

08-06-10 Nimble is a beautiful 12 week old female cocker spaniel. She has been returned to the breeder who has given her to us to re home as she is deaf. This dear sweet girl is disorientated at the moment, circling a lot. She is a happy girly who comes up for a fuss and a cuddle and so deserves a home and person to call her own.

OOOOOOOOO  she is gorgeous  :luv:

Sorry I am gonna defend the breeder here - at least by handing her to the rescue the breeder will have the safe knowledge that who the rescue let have her will be the correct owner for her and so she will not be passed from pillar to post - and the rescue will most prob have more knowledge on deaf dogs than the breeder so will be able to find her a forever home and give the new owner all the information and help with having a deaf dog

Now if only I could have another dog I would snap this one up as she is gorgeous  :luv: , but I can't  :'(

Hope she finds her forever home real soon with someone who can devote the time to her that she needs

Not sure I agree with that comment about the breeder, the breeders may well not be a puppy farm but may not be able to keep her for a variety of reasons (not having the time that is needed to train a deaf pup being one) thre are lots of more terrible and irresponsible things they could have done with her. Many Tears will ensure she gets the best home possible so not such a bad thing really. Not sure I could have taken her back to the breeder though if she were my pup :-\

So the owner is bad for not wanting/have the time to train a deaf pup but the breeder isn't? I have no experience of dog breeding other than what I have read on here but I would have thought the breeder has just as much responsibility for the dog as the new owner. Every new member that mentions breeding from their dog gets informed of the importance of being responsible for the pups if the new owners can't/won't keep them. I have no experience in training deaf dogs either so is this the responsible thing to do? (and that was a genuine question not a sarcastic comment  ;))
