02-08-12 Rufus is 7 year old ex stud cocker. He is a gentle soul who would love the chance of a loving home. He has never been taught to walk on a lead but we know once taught he would love walks, and a kind special home for ever. Rufus has an eye infection at the moment which we are treating. He will need a home with at least one other kind and gentle dog to help him adjust to his new life and owners who have the time and patience to teach him about house training, lead walking and how to be a much loved pet.

Poor Rufus he looks so old and tired how I would love to see that wee face come alive with love and kindness, learning to enjoy life and the world around him.

We are DELIGHTED to report that Rufus our sweet but confused cocker, who stands unseeing looking at the walls, cocking his head from side to side, listening to what is going on around him and hoping his life is going to change - has a chance!!!!! The eye specialist saw Rufus yesterday and has said he feels he is a good candidate for surgery. We are delighted, and will be finding a fosterer to take him on near to an eye hospital. We will be financing one eye to be given sight (as this will cost over £2,000) but the difference this will make for him is HUGE, so we are truly delighted and out thanks to everyone who has donated to our eye fund to make this possible.

Aww he's gorgeous. Just looked him up and he's in East Sussex :(

I'd love to take on a rescue cocker but they are all too far away :(

 Rufus is slowly settling into home life and has started to walk on a lead and harness. He has very little sight and we are waiting for him to have further tests to see if eye surgery is an option or not. He has started wagging his tail, knows his name and is house trained. He finds his way around our house & garden very well already having only been here for 2 weeks. He enjoys being brushed and cuddled. He is currently living with a mixture of male & female dogs and gets on fine with them, however if one of them knocks into him by mistake, he will have a go at them which is his defence when he feels vulnerable.

I wonder if Rufus is having the eye op - In August it was a good possibility but recently states they are still assessing him.
