It occoured to me today that I haven't wormed Giz for some time ph34r However, last time she was sick from it and I can't now remember which one it was ::)
Is worming a must? And can anyone recommend a good one. Or, if I switch to stronghold from frontline, do I still need an additional wormer.
doG I feel a bit stupid, it's usually taken care of at the vets but we haven't had to go for a long time.
-
Did you buy the last wormer? Or was it one the vet supplied? I was wondering if you could ring the vet to see what brand was, then you'd know what to avoid IFYSWIM
-
It came from the vet - you'd think i'd have thought to do that ph34r ph34r :005: Slow day ::)
-
Mine haven't been done in a while - our vets only sell Drontal flavour which makes them really sick and it was too much of a faff to get some Milbemax. I'm really strict with the worming regime when they are puppies but it does lapse a bit (or maybe a lot!) when they are adults ph34r
Stronghold only covers for roundworm so you would still need something for tapeworm.

I worm all mine every three months. I use milbemax from the vets. They have never been sick with these.
-
Yip, I use Milbemax too and neither of the girls throw up with them. It is a pain in the bum for me to get them as the vet doesn't use them normally.... so I have to buy 6 boxes at a time which costs me £131 :o
-
Drontal is the one that seems to cause sickness in a lot of dogs. I use Milbemax as well and they've never had any problems with it.
-
Milbemax now comes as chewy type, so much easier for those dogs that pretend to swallow the tablet then spit it out :lol2:
-
Yep, its Drontal that seems to be the problem one - with mine it was the meat flavoured Drontal (heaven knows what that had in it) >:D
Milbemax for us , but have just bought some Panacur as it is getting increasingly difficult for us to get Milbemax... ::) we do it every 3 months
-
My girls are wormed every three months. I just put a sticker on the calender for 3 months after they have had their latest dose.
I use Drontal and I have never had a problem with it (apart from getting the tablets down their throats to begin with :005:).

As Odie is only still a pup, I wormed him every 2 months (with Drontal puppy liquid) up to 8 months old (it lasted that long). After that, I'm doing it every 3 months with Drontal (hope I don't have a problem, I've a years supply of the darn stuff!) Lesley ;)
-
Sherleys one dose wormer here, every three months!
-
I use Milbemax for Mason too - every 3 months and it has never disagreed with him. Our vets no longer use Milbemax so I get a prescription from them and buy using one of the online vet med sites and buy a years supply at once.

Same here - Coco is a disgusting little miss and with some of the things she picks up on walks I prefer to keep her worming up to date :020:
-
Ithink Harvey is on every 6months for his wormer! W use milvbemax too and have had no problems :shades:
-
Anyone know why some of these vets are no longer using Milbemax? I've used it on our for ages and never had any problems whereas Drontal caused upsets I'd prefer not to remember. :shades:
-
Mine always have Drontal Plus. I have been using this for a few years now without probs.
-
Milbemax here too, I crush them up on a saucer, then add to food. No problems so far..... ;)
-
My pup has been having Milbemax - very easy to give as they're chewy and you can easily stick them into a chunk of chicken or cheese.
