Thanks yet again, Penny!  Bless you! 🎁
Alarm bells rang as I read your last post....

I phoned usual vet to have it confirmed that there is the start of glaucoma in each eye: tried to get an earlier AHT appointment, but without success.  Then spoke to usual vet again, who said, a v dilated eye, swollen and sore with pain issues was an instant indicator of an emergency; to take Millie to them and they would refer immediately to AHT.  In this situation in the past, dogs have been seen at AHT on arrival.

So, as Millie's current condition is the same as at Monday's vet examination, I'm praying it will stay that way till Tuesday coming.  Any changes and there'll be no tread left on the car tyres as it'll get burnt off on our way to the vets.

Sadly, last night she couldn't find her way back indoors through the dog flap, until I switched the kitchen light on and lifted the flap myself...  :luv:

Just returned from AHT and its good news!  :D
The specialist gave Millie a very thorough examination: its not glaucoma (phew!);she has the beginning of cateracts in both eyes and some retinal loss. There are floaters in her eyes too.  He said that the changes he could see were age related and there was nothing  to be done at this point. He gave us some drops as false tears for her eyes to see if  that helped.  So thats it! Not even a follow up appointment unless Millie started showing real signs of glaucoma and of distress.
Must admit, i'm very relieved to learn I was wrong!  :005:

Phew - see at worst you wasted a good worry - so pleased for you but eyes are always worth an emergency appt just in case as they're very fragile

[I had floaters - donut-shaped ones (yep this is what these ones are called), which is normal for aging humans but mine seem to have gone]

Better safe than sorry...
Ironically we met a 7month springer this morning, whose owner thought Millie was a puppy
Lets hope Millie follows in Bens footsteps.  :luv: :luv: :luv:

Thanks

My vet has just had to endure me in worrywort mode - particularly now Boz has a bacterial infection in his eye on top of the cataracts - but my vet understand all the stuff I went through with Ruby
