Title: Really pleased
Post by: Alpha on August 13, 2007, 12:02:04 AM
As you know Lilly (and Me) went for our first lesson today, with Mike.
Well I have to say i am more than pleased with my girl she was a super star. We did all sorts of really basic stuff heel work, recall, sitting to the whistle, and a couple or retreivers where she had to wait before she was sent on. She really enjoyed it and Mike is such a brilliant trainer, really quiet and gentle with her.
He says that she has lots of potential but her was really surprised at how biddable she is and seems to think she will have no real problems at all.. He has given us lots of homework ie getting to grips with her heel and practising her sit on the whistle command.
She seemed really grown up today and seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself.
This is a picture taken after all her hard work having a well deserved rest with Lady who will be helping us.

she is such a star, she actually makes me look like I might know what i am doing. Just been practising sit and wait whilst i walk round her....it took 3 attempts but in the end she lay down and looked at me as if to say do get on with it.
Does anyone know if the theory off taking their collar off when you are working/training works. (As in my insurance docs it says she has to have a collar with tags to be insured however i wouldn't dream off letting her off in woodland etc with it on). I'm hoping she associates the collar with play and when its off its time to pay attention and work any advice please?.

Well done Lilly, glad you both had fun

Don't let your mum work you too hard Miss Lilly or you can come and stay here with Fernie if it gets too much   ;)
