Gundog training Lancashire
« on: June 13, 2012, 10:20:41 AM »

Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good gundog trainer around lancashire/manchester.

It's for a friends 16 month old cocker male which he will be working just for pigeon shooting mostly so nothing too intense hopefully needed.

I would love to help myself, but pulled all my hair out with ours.... Ha ha

Take Care... Baz

There is one near Burscough / Ormskirk border that I was happy with. Would that be too far?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, no that's fine.

I would travel within an hour or so. can you pass on the details please.

Out of curiosity what did you do with your dog.

Best regards.   Baz  ;)

I learned how to walk my dog to heel on and off lead and use whistle commands to get them to sit and stay. We progressed to hand signals as well. We also learned how to get a solid sit, walk away offer the dog to come then get it to sit again and repeat as many times as you could in the space you had. We learned dummy retrieval and how to flush left and right. The class was a mixture of those wanting same as me a bit of gundog training but without any actual shoots but others were into shooting and if that's were you were headed then they were happy to take you there too. The man (Nick) did lots of shoots and had lots of experience. Overall I was happy to use his methods.
