Pet Insurance
« on: March 05, 2009, 08:36:28 PM »
Oh goodness just had my renewal for Sox and my 2 cats come through £27.36 per month!  Last year I paid £15.49 a month, considering I made no claims or anything thats a heck of an increase!!!! This was through Tesco Insurance..  Is this sort of increase correct, or can someone point me in the right direction of another Insurance Company.....

We got our renewal for Sam today.  £13.99 a month with More Than.  It's £3 more than last year.

Gari was £18 per month until he had a claim when he collapsed and was hospitalised overnight, he is now £26 per month! Cos he is an "older" dog apparently. :-\

He is with Tesco.

Maisy was £11.63 a month with healthy pets until her renewal came through in Feb, increased to £18. Never claimed or been to vets.
Changed to Greenbee for £13.16 monthly, and better cover.

Thanks guys - was scouring the net last night and went onto healthy pets website and got all 3 animals insured for £15.29 a month, :D its really quite an eye opener as to the prices of these insurances, but then again the monthly amount is so much better than getting a bill from the vets for a high amount.

I too never made a claim even when my cat vanished I had free help from radio stations and the cats protection league so never made a claim for anything.

Blimey thats daylight robbery!!  >:( surely these companies should realise that us mere mortals will find the better price rather than pay out on these over the top policies.....  :shades:

I'm considering not renewing it in June because I haven't been able to claim, as the excess is £75 plus ten per cent of the remainder.

In the last few years I have paid out over £300 in vets' bills, but all were less than ninety pounds per illness.

sorry to drag up an old topic but just wanted to let you guys know I've had my M&S insurance renewal through for Jarv - we stayed with them because of the couple of previous claims he had and bit the bullet at the incredibly high premium we were paying and the extortionate year on year increases....this year it's £2.00 more expensive per month so it's finally stabilised  :D

I just want to add my tuppence and say that quite a lot of us on COL have found Greenbee really cheap for quotes. Well last month I had to put in my first (of many) claims with them, and they were great. All sorted, and money in my bank within a week or two. As long as they dont bump the price TOO much at renewal, I'll definitely be sticking with them.
