Poorly doggies
« on: April 01, 2007, 09:41:49 PM »
Don't feel too sorry for them though as its self inflicted  ;)  This morning, Vegas & Dallas ate 13 sachets of Jersey's hi-life food between them and have ahd had constant vomiting and diarrhoea since. I did read that the food is quite high in salt but the box doesn't give an exact figure - does anyone know if there is anything I can give them to counteract the salt as I've got images of their kidneys packing up  ph34r  They have drank sooooo much water but just keep vomiting it up so of course I'm worrying about dehydration too. They both look thoroughly miserable and positively groan everytime they move  ph34r

Blimey!  Can just imagine them peering over their shoulders thinking, "we still getting away with it, keep scoffing!".  Poor loves.  I know its self inflicted but I do feel a bit sorry for them.  D&V is not nice, doggy or otherwise.  Get well soon.

Oh, eugh  ph34r I can just imagine how their delight and satisfaction at having got away with it slowly turned to misery as they began to feel queasy..... :005:

I hope they feel better soon Gill - one must be bad enough, but two....  ph34r

I may be wrong but I wouldn't think that the salt would cause any lasting damage, its effect i believe is to reduce the potassium salts in the blood but as they have thrown most of the food up i doubt they have too much in their systems. Just make sure they have plenty of water to drink.

Bet they were really chuffed to get away with it :005:

Gill from what I've seen on the HI Life site the food does not contain allot of salt (it is too low to record in their recipe) and as some vets suggest giving dogs salt by the spoonful to make them vomit if they have ingested something they shouldn't i don't think you have too much to worry about.

Gill, if you're still concerned in the morning you could try getting them some Lectade to help any rehydration and sort out the electrolytes. Don't think you'll need 30 sachets though  ;:005:

Naughty boys, hope you feel better in the morning.  ;)  :D

It might then be a lot of sugar - it was one of the two!!

They are both feeling a lot better this morning - the doggy room was covered in poo this morning and there were quite a few piles of sick (one of which was Disneys as it had a prawn cocktail crisp bag in it  ::)) in the hall but they are a lot brighter and ate their scrambled eggs for breakfast
