Nasty Wasp
« on: August 25, 2007, 01:35:16 PM »
Hi
Whilst we were out walking Charlie today, he got stung several times, judging by his reaction, by a wasp, he eventually ate the offending insect! We walked back to the car, with Charlie squealing, shaking and on occasion lying down refusing to move his tail hanging very limply. As soon as we got in I gave him half a Piriton and soaked the area with bicarbonate of soda mixed with water.
What I want to know is, if there is anything else I should have done, I am hoping there won't be a next time, but I would like to be more prepared just in case.
He is now lying on the couch sleeping I think that the Piriton has knocked him out!

I don't know what else there is to do - it sounds to me as if you did everything correctly.  Poor Charlie though. I hope he feels better.  :luv:

I think they say vinegar for wasp stings and Bicarb for bees. Hope the poor little fella is ok.

Poor baby  :luv:

My  fav black and tan cocker Coppa stood on a wasp 2 years ago and it was stuck in the hair on the pad of her foot and she was going ballistic screaming  :o , I got stung trying to take if off as I thought it was a thistle  :'(

I also got stung several times by a wasp, when I sat down on the loo, I pulled my tights up and the wasp was trapped, it stung me and by god youve never seen anyone remover their underwear faster than me  :o

Poor Charlie...... hope he's feeling better soon.

Last time Betty ate a wasp, she had a terrible allergic reaction, her whole tummy, and inner legs had swollen up with big red hives....wonder if piriton would help with that too, save me a whopping great vets bill  ::)

Hello
Thanks for all your good wishes I will pass them on to Charlie when he wakes up! He is fine today and has been out on a big walk a play on the beach and a bit of a swim.
