Title: Deafness in blue Roans?
Post by: Louies Mum on February 12, 2003, 09:01:18 PM
I'm sorry to ask such a dumb question but......

Is deafness a common problem in Blue Roans?

No deafness is not a common problem in Cocker Spaniels but it is seen occasionally in puppies & research in the US shows it's more likely to be seen in particolours (not just blue roans) than in solids. Congential deafness is thought to be hereditary & is probably caused by a recessive gene, as is the case with so many genetic problems.
