COAT KING
« on: August 06, 2003, 03:21:44 AM »
I've read the recent threads on the Coat King; however, I can't locate any discussion on how it works and what hair it is stripping out. i.e. is it loose hair, undercoat? Is it cutting growing hair?
Why is it not recommended for show dogs?

Hi Lee

The Coat King is laid flat along the coat & gently pulled through the hair - it will then strip out excess puppy fluff & dead hair etc. The Coat King contains a number of blades which is why it's not recommended for show coats as these blades can cut the hair & when it regrows, it can be coarse & dull looking. When Coat Kings first came out, it was said that they only stripped hair out not cut it, but experience has proved otherwise ;) A lot of show people who used Coat Kings on their show dogs when they first came out last year now only use them on pet Cockers, but having said that some show people are continuing to use them on show dogs.
