Has anyone used a FURminator (deshedding tool) ????
« on: February 24, 2009, 09:50:21 AM »
:D Picked up a leaflet in my local pet suppliers for this tool and being the advertisers dream that I am I think it looks amazing (providing it lives up to it's claims). Was thinking of buying one but was just wondering if anyone on here has actually used one, any opinions please.

Have posted a link that demonstrates this grooming tool: http://www.furminator.com/

and a UK website that sells them: http://www.companyofanimals.co.uk/

I am sure there has been a thread on this.  However I have bought two. They do strip out all the loose hair and the picture of the dog on the web site could well be true.  I tend to brush first, strip out then use a fine comb afterwards.  Both dogs accept the tool OK.   :-*
I love my dogs.  They make it worth getting out of bed in the morning.

There have been several threads on the Furminator (and other similar products). If you do a Forum search, you'll find them all but here's one to start you off  :D

I use a Furminator on Suki and Josie - but they are both short haired dogs!  Yes, they are absolutely fantastic and do live up to the adverts!
However, you have to be careful as you could end up with bald spots (they really are that good!)
I was totally amazed by the results and both dogs love being "furminated!"
Would not use on Harriet because we show her, but TBH probably would otherwise.......
Penny,   Dexter (cavalier x poodle), Alfie (Whippet cross)  and  Maximus the cocker spaniel!!

RIP my 2 most gorgeous cocker girls - Buffy and Harriet - both waiting for me at the bridge. Joined by my beloved Josie taken too soon and Suki aged 13 :(

One piece of advice I would suggest with these, is not to continually overuse in one area as it can cause capilliary bleeding.
