Hi New Cocker Owner
« on: December 02, 2012, 03:53:12 PM »
Hi there I am a new cocker owner, we have a labrador who is seven and half, and we now have Archie who is just over 6 months I will try to include a picture with this post.
Can I just ask someone are cockers vocal and growly and grumbly?
I have tried to add a picture to no avail I will try again later.

Hi

Welcome to the forum.  I have an 18 month old cocker spaniel (Pippa) and a 2 year old basset fauve (Barney).  Pippa is quite vocal but not in a grumbly/growly way.  She is more prone to excited barking and whining when she is impatient for food or for someone's attention.  Sometimes she tries really hard to contain herself but then will let out an excited little yelp or moan.  She is a blue roan and I've heard that they can be more vocal than other colours.

My Meggan use to mow like a cow, we never found out until our neighbours told us and on leaving her - just to hear - she did in fact sound like a cow, lol  Also she would grunt and groan when I was speaking to her, like she was answering me back

Hi Bridget and Archie. Welcome to the forum. I also have an Archie. My Archie is orange roan and is also very chatty!

For posting photos you need to upload them to a hosting site first. I use photobucket. You then copy and paste the Img code into your post. Hope that helps a bit.

Hi Welcome to COL. Charlie, my orange & white boy is very chatty, gentle barking, throaty mumbles, whoo hoo's and loud barking when the postie knocks the door !! :005:

Enjoy the forum.

Hi and welcome. I have a one and a half year old girl, Penny. When she's playing chases with other dogs she growls and sounds ferocious! She also does it when in 'wall of death' mode. My springer is very grumpy in the evenings when he's been sleeping by the fire and doesn't want to be disturbed. He also groans and moans when he's being brushed. I think it could be a spaniel trait to be vocal.

Hey and Welcome!

Bonnie is so grumbly and growly at times. Mostly when she is over excited or when we are playing a good old game of tuggy. She really does like to let us know how she feels :)  :005:
