MovieMaker - it won't let me copy onto photobucket
« on: March 12, 2008, 03:29:34 PM »
Have just created a video on Windows Movie Maker for Jess's gotcha day (used Windows Movie Maker as photobucket were limited to the tunes available and I wanted a particular one).

Spent most of last night editing it and now cannot copy it to either photobucket or YouTube to enable me to post it on here - any ideas why.

You need to save it from Movie Maker onto your pc ( in my photos or my videos etc ), then when uploading to youtube click on browse and select the destination where you saved it... or have you already tried that ?

Yes cos thats the usual way I save photos, but have never tried uploading a video before.  Asked my son in law to have a look and he says it needs converting, so he tried to download a video converter but it was going to cost £20.

Surely you can save videos to a photobucket without all this performance, its a really funny slideshow of her as well and the music makes it.

Time is running out as it is her gotcha day on 18th.

Am I missing something.

Have you saves it as an actual video file as opposed to a movie maker project? I kept saving it in the wrong format when i've done it before...

Are you sure you've saved it to your pc ? Can you go to the destination and play it ?

You shouldn't need to convert it.

I think if you go into the file menu you can do "save movie file". That might work.

No tried that but it will only let me save it as Movie Maker.  I am now at a loss and am going to have to use a montage I have made on Photobucket, which is Ok but not as good as Movie Maker one - is there any way of adding your own music onto photobucket, or any other way to add music to a montage without using movie maker?

What a pain. When I've used Movie Maker it always automatically saves the file as a 'Windows Media Movie', which is easy to upload to all the filesharing sites - so not sure what's going wrong for you.

There's a Movie Maker forum here...

http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Forums/

Might be worth doing a search on there to see if others have had the same problem or joining and asking for help.

Hurray thanks for the link to the movie maker forum (thanks Colin) I have now manged to save my video to my photobucket account but now I am having difficulty copying it onto here.

I know how to upload photos (by using the little insert image icon then pasting the address) do I use a different icon for vidoes and I am unsure which code to use - as there are several.

There is a "Email and IM"  Code, a "Direct Link", a "html" code and "IMG" code - does anyone know which one I am supposed to copy and which icon do I choose from above where you post your reply etc.

Many thanks.

use the IMG code - you don't need to use the picture icon as PB gives a direct link to copy and paste
