Rodaidh's ill...
« on: August 01, 2008, 05:47:43 AM »
... and I'm in Rio  :-\  Until today I hadn't had a chance to check my mails since Tuesday morning and I got on earlier to find several increasingly panicky mails from my Mum saying that Rodaidh took very ill on Tuesday, was rushed to the vet and has been there on a drip since that evening  :-\  He had severe diarrhoea and vomiting, he collapsed and didn't respond to the treatment as well as they would have liked so they x-rayed him but didn't find anything. The latest update is that he's stopped vomiting but still has diarrhoea and is severely dehydrated and very listless and lethargic and is still on the drip. I can't sleep or do anything tonight except think about him so I'm up so I can ring home at 7am UK time to get an update and see if there's any progress. I'm really worried and I hate that I'm not there with him although I know that he's in good hands and my Mum and Stepdad are doing everything they can. Thoughts for the boy would be appreciated, everyone who knows me knows what Rodaidh is to me... this'll learn me to be having a good time gallivanting around Brazil  :-\

Oh No!  How awful.  At least he is in the best possible hands like you say and everything is being done for him.  Positive thoughts from here.

Hope he's feeling better today.
Don't beat yourself up Nic, it's not your fault that he's poorly when you're away, and he's having best care possible.

Fingers (and paws) crossed he's on the mend soon  :luv:

Hope that he's OK Nic, it's horrible when you are so far away and your baby is ill, I remember when my horse was ill when I was in Canada - there wasn't a thing I could do and he was in good hands, but I felt cr£p  >:(

He's in good hands, hopefully when you get back next week, he'll be right as rain.

Thinking of him and sending positive thoughts  :-*

Nic, when Jarv had HGE he was like that at the vets - took him 2 days to start responding to anything so KEEP  POSITIVE.  They sent him home after he was re-hydrated and pumped full of anti-b's because they couldn't get him to eat anything and thought he would do better in his home environment.  When we got him home he went outside and laid on the grass and didn't move for 4 hours - listless wasn't the word.  It took me a day to get him to eat a bit of chicken but we got there.

They're pumping Rodaidh full of stuff to re-hydrate him and to kill any kind of infection - no wonder he's listless and lethargic.  They've ruled out a blockage I'm assuming (from the x-rays) so I assume they're waiting for bloods back?

It's the worst thing in the world being far away when something like this happens - he's in good hands Nic, and we're all willing him to get better as well.

Keep us posted  :luv: :luv: :luv:

Why do they wait until you are the other side of the world before they become ill? ph34r

I am sure he will be fine.  Keeping our fingers and paws crossed here for him (and you!) :D

Big hugs for both of you (((((( :luv:)))))))

Poor Rodaidh I hope he is picking up when you call this morning.

It is not your fault and it is hard enough for us to leave our dogs so dont make it any harder on your self.

Take care :luv:
