Worried about Holly
« on: September 15, 2012, 05:16:33 PM »
Hi,
Worried about our Holly, wonder if anyone can throw any light on
what may be the trouble.
On Tuesday morning she came down stairs fine,
had her dental stick. slice of carrot and her breakfast.
she acted normal.  by dinner time she was very quiet and curled
up to go to sleep..by 4.30 she was not herself.. :-\
couldn't put my finger on what was wrong...but you know when some thing
is not right. :-\.took her straight off to the  vets..apart from her temperature very slightly up
our vet couldn't find anything wrong.but she gave her several injections and said
if she was no better by morning to bring her straight back so they could do  some
blood tests.
Well by 8 that night she was back to normal...as also on Wed/Thurs and Friday
but this morning she was the same as on Tuesday. walking very slowly..didn't want her food
or treats..we walked  a few steps up the road to see if she would feel better...poor darling
just crawled along  as if she had no energy  at all...she went to the toilet, that looked OK
so back to the vets...again no signs of anything being wrong.temp ok this time.tummy fine, heart ok...
so they have done blood tests and given her some more jabs...how is she now a few hours later..cleared her food bowl...scoffed her treats...and looking for more :luv:
As a ex-puppy farm girl we really don't know just how old she is..but we think she was at least
4 to 6 years old and we have had her 6 years this Dec...
Just hate to see her poorly. wondered if any of you have come across this in your babies.
seems strange that these injections perk her up.

I was thinking kidneys, just because lethargy was the first thing I noticed with my old girl.

Hopefully the blood tests will shed some light onto the issue and she can be treated effectively.

Did they say what the bloody tests are for?

I just wonder if she is in pain maybe from a joint or somewhere? They can be very subdued if they are in pain.

Hope you can soon solve the mystery, gentle hugs to Holly.

Thanks so much everyone for your kind thoughts and hugs to Holly, have
just check out her meds..which are
Meloxidyl and Amoxycare La.to ease her and they have as :luv:
she is so much brighter,  she fair skipped around on her walk tonight, and now
snoring hear head off by me.
The vet said the blood test done should show up a number of things like
her blood cells count. viral and other infections and other things that( I'm sorry I have forgotten,
she was rabbit them off so quickly.) and she will ring me on Monday morning with those results.
the blood test she sending off will be a few days later and should show if her thyrod is working ok and any other problems she may have.

She didn't seem to have any pain in any of her joints, or tummy and
she was not sick, pooing ok, water works ok.
she just wouldn't eat, walked slow and stiffly as if it was to much of an effort.
and generally was not right.
but tonight she is back to her old self  :luv:
