well Jessies op went ahead today, she is well and doing ok, a little bit whimpery but I woul be also... we are just about to settle in rfont of tv to watch a film, but promised a few people I would report straight in to say shes ok...
we took her in at 9.45am and they gave the pre med straight away to calm her, then she went straight in for op, they called me at 11.00to say all went well however she was round and distressed and howling ::) so could I come collect her as they feared she might tear her stitches if she didn't calm down...
shes now at my feet looking at me as if to say "mummy I really thought you loved me more than to put me through this" :'( but it'll get better :)
She has had pain killers at vets to last today they said, however when should I start the homeo ones Jane??? I every hour you said, do I start straight away?? even though shes had stuff off them??? I will check back later when hubby gets back so he can sit with her rather than her following me around...
also shes got antibiotics and has to go back in tomorrow to check all is well, then stitches out in 21 days...
thanks all for your lovely words of support, I know she'll be ok I just adore her so much, shes such a treasure that I hated her going through this..

If she's a true cocker Lynsey, she'll milk it for all she's worth ;D
At least the op is done now and once she has recovered you can breathe a big sigh of relief :)
Tell me, is she wearing one of those buckets on her head? If so, show us a pic ;D

-
I was looking forward to seeing her bucket-head too :(
... so why dont you take a pic for us all anyways ;D
-
as if you read my mind....hear is the sick girl and her sister as you can see her sister has not exactly been that comforting to the sick patient and has taken jessiewoos bed ::) but jessie didn't seem to mind any.. ;)
-
not very clear but you et the general idea of it :-
-
Awww bless poor little Jessie, and how small is that
gorgeous little Yorkie. ;D
-
Awwww....bless her. No one likes to see their little ones poorly being children or dogs. Sure she'll be feeling much better soon but in the meantime big :-* :-* :-* and hugs for her ;)

glad she's ok Lynsey
Isn't it strange how we worry and worry when really everything's fine :)
At last you can relax, preferably with another vodka and coke ;)
:-* :-* for brave Jessie from the Milster - she's worried cos she's heard her mummy and daddy talking about this operation for her too :- , but if Jessie can get through it she thinks she might be ok ;)
-
Glad Jessie is ok Lynsey :) You can start her on the arnica as soon as you like - it will help reduce the swelling & bruising & it doesn't matter at all that Jessie has already been given a painkilling injection.
-
Hi Lynsey
Glad to hear that Jessie is ok, as the others have said she will soon be running around. Lots of :-* :-* :-* :-* from Sebastian, Bart & Douglas and a big <<<<<<HUG>>>>>> from me ......

thanks Jane, I re read the advice online about it and started iving her it every hour, and shes resting, doesn't seem at all bothered by her stitches yet, so I have left her alone and not put her in baby vest...and she doesn't have a collar, so I am sleeping downstairs with her tonight to mak sure shes comfy.. ;D
-
I would just like to say a big thank you to all of you for your wonderfull support, I know I worry but really I wouldn't be me if I didn't ;) thanks again guys :-*
-
Hows Jessie today Lynsey?
Barb
-
Just read this Lynsey. Glad that Jessie is OK. Hopefully she will be back to her old self in no time.
Poppy sends her a big kiss :-* and lots of sympathy :)
-
Jessie's going back for a check up today, and I'm sure she'll be fine :)
Lynsey will probably be away from the board for a while, due to personal reasons - but she really appreciates all the support she's been getting from everybody ;)
-
Just caught this, glad to hear that things went to plan this time. :)
-
guess who's lost one of her stitches ??? vet said its been long enough to knit together and to keep eye on it, as he fears that by adding a stapl or another stitch might draw her atention to them more ::) so she isn't the angel I thought, only thing is how'd she get it out through the vest??? ;D
-
Thats Jessie for ya!!! ;) ;D nothings gonna stop her doin
wot she wants lol. :D
-
rotf.... I know...bless her cottons...love that girl.. :-* ;D
-
Hi Nurse Lynsey!!! Very pleased to know that your little bundle of trouble is making a good recovery, after all this nursing reckon it will be your turn for a bit of r and r.
Take care.
Roy
-
awwwww thanks Roy, you know I might just do that ;) ;D
-
I'm not sure how she pulled it - maybe they can come out just by running around like cockers do? Hope she's okay ;)
-
to be hosnt that one was always a tad loose, so I guess thats what happened... but shes well happy its out the daft soppy lop eared bunny wabbit..
-
since the removal of said stitch, jessie has also managed to tug at the others ...although not get them out, I rang the vet as my efforts at cleaning the wound (cos it was weeping slightly) didn't seem enough to me, he assures me that even though jessie has torn her stitch holes somewhat, the wounds is still closed and it will settle.. :- I have started to give the arnica again Jane, as its getting inflamed slightly, I hope this is ok, and cleanin it as you mentioned before, but she isn't impressed...I can tell ya ;)
is there anything else I can try??? shes still wearing the baby vests, cos thats the only way I can keep her away, and it seems she only got rattled by stitches when they started to heal and get itchy......help!
-
I'm sure the wound will heal up completely once those stitches are out - some dogs do seem to find the stitches themselves v irritating. Just try & keep the area as dry & clean as poss - I have used a medicated powder in the past when we've had bitches spayed. Jessie might perhaps be better with one of those awful lampshades so you can take the baby vest off & let the air get to the area?
-
I agree with Jane. Perhaps the vest is rubbing on them a little too which may irratate her (I'm talking from my own experience of having a c.section, not that I wore a vest :o ;D ;))
-
I
(I'm talking from my own experience of having a c.section, not that I wore a vest :o ;D ;))
No Mary it wasn,t a vest, it was a liberty bodice ;) ;D
-
well I have for the last few days left it open at the crotch :o to let the air waft ;D the lampshade will drive her demented I kno..cos son once held up her ears with a sock and she lost it... ::) ;D will keep doing what I amdoing then...it looks dry enough today...
-
Canine Chemists have something called a "Neck Brace" which is more of a built-up collar with a soft lining, it says it stops wound licking & is less than £3 - might be worth trying ;)
-
hmmmmm do you ahve their web address??? so I can have a butchers at it??? ;D
-
Not sure if it's on the website, but it's in their catalogue. The website is at http://www.hyperdrug.com/store/default.asp (http://www.hyperdrug.com/store/default.asp)
-
thanks Jane...gonna take a peek now...cos I did look in the pet shop and they dont have anything ... the recommended a t shirt ::) I mean hows that different to the vest??? ::)
-
just had to add that Jessie had her remaining ::) two stitches out today, vet said she was a good girl.. ;D althouh she did try to get out cos I think she thought he was gonna spay her again.. ;D I bought some more drontal tablets as she will need worming again... and I was surprised at the price...he only charged me £4.60 for the two tablets... I thought I paid more than that before..
the girls boosters are both in November...quite by accident..but how convenient is that??? :o ;D she was bum wiggling going into vets...but you should see the one she did when we left ;D
-
Thats cheap that is Lynsey, cos we pay bout £8 pounds
for 3 for our Nell, :o she loves going to the vets, goes in
on two legs with me hanging on the end of the lead, ::)
and just licks him an slobbers all over him, ;D Nearly bends herself in two wagging her tail that much
big softie that she is. ;D
-
