Poor little krumbum isnt a happy chappie. Was very quiet yesterday and looked like he had a bit of a sore left eye. Just before bedtime I noticed it looked worse (red and gungy) and that his face was slightly squint and his left eye was bulging out of its socket :o Gave him a biscuit as usual but he yelped and dropped it. So took him to vet first thing and he has a severe infection behind the eye socket and in the roof of his mouth. Possibly caused by a foreign object such as a piece of stick going into his gums and travelling up. He's on high strength antobiotics used for bone infections, strong painkillers and is to go back in 2 days. If no better he'll need to go to Glasgow for an MRI scan to see whats going on. Small chance its something more sinister such as a tumour :-\
His glands are 4 times their normal size and he has a slight temperature which is why vet is confident its an infection. He said it is a very painful place to have the infection so its no wonder he's so miserable. Poor wee man.
-

Ouch, that does sound sore :'( Poor Krum and poor you. That's the problem with having more than one animal - it seems like there is always at least one who is ill ::)
Hope the meds clear up the infection and he starts to feel better soon. ;)

Ah, bless him poor Krumble. It sounds very like what one of my Cocker Bitches had. We thought it was just a bit of an eye infection until her face swelled up and she was clearly distressed and in a lot of pain. Very unwell poor girl. We rushed her up the vets and they had to keep her in and knock her out to have a good look. I was so worried. She had a hole in the top of her mouth where infection had got in, so they drained it and gave her some pills and in a couple of days she was much better. Went back for a check up,but really no need as she was right back to herself. Here's hoping it's the same thing, although horrible not serious. 5 lots of Cocker kisses coming Krumbles way and positive healing thought from me. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Oh bless poor little Krumble hope hes better very very soon !

sounds like the antibugs will do their trick. It's amazing how quickly they go down with an infection. My last lab got an infection in her neck where a bit of stick went through the gum at the back of her throat. One day she was find, next day I honestly thought the old girl was on her out. Her infection turned out to be so deep seated that they needed to put her under anaesthetic to get at the infection to drain it, but thereafter she recovered with amazing speed.
All fingers and toes crossed for Krumble. Let us know how he is tomorrow
Luv Debs & Daisy

Ouch - get well wishes from here. Good luck with follow up appt - hope antibiotics work quickly and Krumble is more comfortable.

Krumble is getting there now. His face looks about normal again but he is still in pain and cant fullly open his jaw (plus his breath really stinks so definitly something horrid happening in there). Back to vet tomorrow to see whats to happen now.

awww poor baby, I reckon it's a bit of stick - good luck at the vet tomorrow (I think some freshly unfrozen tripe would be really soothing on a poorly gob :luv: :luv: :luv: )
-
Willow had a nasty abcess once, in her throat, the antib's from the vet didnt clear it but some homeopathic silica which shoves stuff out basically pushed the abcess out - this was after 2 sets of antib's didnt shift it, so something to consider if the antib's dont manage to clear it up and the vet suggests something more drastic

Hmmm, and tripe would make him smell even more lovely :005:
Poor Krum though - it must be sore. Would give him some live yog while he is on anti-b's too- hope the vet can fix him soon. :-*

-
Poor poorly Krum. That sounds awful.
Hope he is soon feeling heaps better.
-
I took Krumbum for a walk with my two earlier and they all had a great time, he's not operating at his usual 100% but he was running around and sniffing. His tail was going nineteen to the dozen as usual, I got some lovely (if ever so slightly smelly :005:) kisses and he still tried to grab my sleeve at every opportunity :005: :luv: I took some photos which I'll try to post up later on.
-
Only just caught up with this Jo...poor Krumble, must have been horrid for him. Glad he seems to be on the mend now - look forward to seeing Nicola's pics ;)
-
poor wee man!! I hope hes better soon. what a shame. Im glad the antibs are helping a bit tho. xx :luv:
-
any news on Krumbum? :luv: :luv:
-
Really hope it's good news. It sounded grim-cockers are too soft to suffer- shouldn't be allowed.
-
Krum is to keep going with the ABs and painkillers for another 2 weeks with a check up in a week again. Cant use silica when its right beside the eye. He looks almost normal again but cant open his jaw more than an inch as it still hurts too much.
-
Ahhhhh, bless him. I'm so glad he's doing better. Solly was sore for a bit after it had all gone down and she did have slight issues with her mouth being opened as she expected it to still hurt, but with a little work and time she is much better now and will let you look. I hope he continues to improve. :luv:
-
Only just caught up with this. Poor Krumble.
