Anyone Overseas who can help with tick/flea/sandfly advice?
« on: August 22, 2013, 09:15:05 PM »
I have a friend in Spain who is needing help with what to put on her dog for the above. I know Advantix does the sandfly and mosquito and Milbemax does worms (including tape worm) but neither of those do fleas. Surely she won't need three products?

Hi Sheryl

Advantix is for sandflies, ticks and fleas, Milbemax for worms;  however, I would get your friend to use the Scalibor collar (Amazon stock it) as well,  the collar lasts for up to five months and is particularly effective for Sandfly.  This may seem overkill, but I'm assuming that the dog will not have been vaccinated against Leishmaniasis, protection needs to start immediately.  Your friend should also take advice of local vets with regard to Sandfly in their area and what other precautions to take.  I lost a dog to the disease so take no chances. :-\

The Scalibor collar is suitable for this.
