My goodness, the waiting is dreadful :-\ I phoned at 2pm (after worrying all morning that he was going to die under anaesthetic and giving myself a heart attack every time my mobile went!) to be told that he was just in the process of being done so to phone back at 4pm! Ah well - I'm at work today so keeping myself busy and I managed to sneak away to the butchers to buy chicken for his special tea ;)

The baby is home and has tucked into his chicken. The problem seems to be his shoulder but it is only a bad sprain as opposed to anything like OCD. His medication has been changed to Metacam and he has to go back in 2 weeks for another check up.

That hopefully sounds like good news. Let's hope the Metacam works where the Rimadyl failed. Enjoy your chicken little man  :luv:

I saw this last night but couldn't post Gill, I'm sorry.

I have been thinking of you though, and I know how hard today must have been.

I'm glad he's home safe and sound and that at least you haven't had any bad news. But it is frustrating isn't it.

I must say that with all my years in Orthopaedic nursing I have often found that a sprain can take longer to heal than a fracture. So I hope Aspen will be more comfortable with the new meds, and soon be fit and well.

btw: the vet saying he's fat!!!!!! How can you keep his weight down when you have to rest him anyway? ;)

I must say that with all my years in Orthopaedic nursing I have often found that a sprain can take longer to heal than a fracture.

Tell me about it, poor Wilf is still onlead walks only (since Easter saturday) and hydrotherapy after his 'crash' with the collie (he's off to the vet referral centre in Swansea in 3 weeks if its no better).

Hope Aspen gets well soon

I must say that with all my years in Orthopaedic nursing I have often found that a sprain can take longer to heal than a fracture.

Vegas had a similar injury when he was running and slipped on his 1st birthday ph34r That took forever to heal as well . In Aspens case I think the vet was concerned that I hadn't seen or heard him injure himself and it had come on suddenly. But at least now I know what we are dealing with so we will just get on with it. He was soooo sleepy and calm yesterday, it was great  However he is back to normal today although he is even more lame due to all the manipulation of his leg yesterday ::) He hopes his fellow sufferer Wilf gets better soon too ;) Its just no fun being stuck on the lead >:(
