My last Golden Cocker, Benjie, lost the use of his back legs when he was eight years old. After various X rays I was informed that he had a lesion on his spine. His vet said that he would treat it conservatively, and Benjie was prescribed prednisolone.
The poor little guy used to drag himself along the floor and it quite upset me. Indeed, although he wasn't allowed on the furniture I ended up putting him on the sofa. Benjie enjoyed all of this attention, and because he wouldn't take tablets easily I bought him fish fingers and chicken rather than his Frolic. The first time I gave him Asda's fish fingers he resolutely refused to eat them. However, the Bird's Eye fingers he walloped down, and I ended up having the Asda variety.
Some weeks later Benjie made a complete recovery, and never had a relapse. He was put to sleep in 1998 at the age of sixteen years. Following this illness it became his inalienable right to sleep on the settee.
I'm sure Hendrix will soon recover and wrap you around his little paws.
