I am so very sorry. What an awful thing to happen to your baby.

I do think you have had same fantastic advice so far. I so hope your breeder will feel able to help you out financially.

My heart goes out to you.
Excuse my ignorance, but how can a 10 week old pup not be covered by 12 week insurance, whatever a 2 week cooling off period means?
I would take legal advice (free for 30 minutes) to check on insurance small print and the breeders responsibilities under Sale of Goods.
RIP Marti  the EPI springer age 12,  and beloved black cocker Bobby, 8 yrs old, too soon, from PLN.
Now owned by TInker, tiny hairy grey poodle/terrier rescue from Greece and Jack, local rescue,   scruffy ginger terrier mutt.

So sorry to read this.  I hope little pepper pulls through and you get some help from the breeder.  :'(

Hi Phoenix,

It means that on many policies, the animal isn't covered for any illness/ disease for 14 days from the start of cover. It's not uncommon on other types of insurance policies - I guess it prevents people from waiting for a problem to appear before taking out an insurance policy.

I've contacted my breeder now... waiting to hear back from her.....

I am so sorry to read this :'(
Its hard enough worrying about a very sick puppy but with the added financial pressure on top it must be so distressing.
I really can only echo what others have said you must contact your breeder again when you get back from the vets and they have decided what treatment to give and how much its going to cost.
Although i dont think the breeder can be held responsible for the pups condition in my eyes she is definently responsible for covering any treatment needed.
Ant good breeder would bend over backwards to help in this situation IMHO
Take care, il be thinking of you and pepper  :-*

Posted same time as Francesca.
Every insurance policy on any animal i have taken out has only covered accidents for the first 14 days.
Illnesses have only been covered after the 14days as Francesca said.

I think you've been given some sound advice regarding the financial issues

I've been through a similar heartache tho, although Harmy was 2 years old, but I lost him to FN. The shock and heartache is horrendous so I understand you not sleeping etc.
But I did everything I could for Harmy and I know that, so all I can say is  do what you can for Pepper and make him as comfy and as loved as ever you can and take comfort and strength from that to help you through it. The little fella really needs your love and if thats all you can give then give it your all. Everything is crossed here that he gets through all this.  :-*

I'm so sorry to hear this and hope you get a good response from the breeder.   Was he only 7 weeks when he came to you, just wondering whether this problem would have been picked up at the breeders had he stayed with the breeder til he was 8 weeks.

I hope you manage to sort this out and Pepper makes a full recovery.   :luv:

So sorry to hear htis. Feel so sad for you and i hope the breeder can help with the vet costs. Im sure she must have insurance for this kind of thing. As for the breeder picking up on it, i very much doubt it as you have only just picked up on it yourselves.

Take Care & Good Luck xxx

I am so sorry to hear of your sad news.

I just wondered if your vets had referred you to a specialist I know of a few close to me The University of Cambridge (We used them some years ago, although costly they saved our Little girls life from auto immune.) The is also Dick White at Newmarkert (think he just does soft tissue) I know that this isn't the answer to the problem but a second opinion can always be useful.

Wishing you all the best thinking of you
