What weight?
« on: April 11, 2009, 09:45:33 AM »
Hi Murphy is 6 months old now and getting close to fully grown.

He is currently in good shape and not fat and just right.
He is currently 11 kilos, what weight should an adult male Cocker be?

I have wondered this a few times and spent time worrying about it.  Mason is 8½ months old now and just over 11kg.  He has a waist and he looks in tip top condition.  He currently gains around half a kilo every 2 or 3 weeks or so.  Each dog is different so if Murphy is in good shape then just go with it for now and adjust his food if he starts too look too big or too small.

Cockers vary soooo much in size and shape that it's impossible to answer. You should be able to feel the ribs with no pressure, but not see the individual ribs, and there should be an obviously defined waist. :D

Kalu recently posted this thread worrying about her dog being too slim, but the pics are a good guide for a perfect figure. ;)
