Stomach Problems
« on: December 09, 2004, 11:58:37 PM »
in the morning my girl will throw up bile.  later on in the day it is partialy digested.  Have had her exrayed, she has has an antibiotic, and prednisone for 10 days.  was put on rice and cottage cheese for a week, still continued to throw up.  got disgusted and put her back on her regula dry food (Nutro lamb and rice).  Seems not to throw up so often.  Still ill occasionaly.  The other nite she threw up completely digested food (liquid) at 2:30 in the morning while she was sleeping on our bed.  Any one know what could be wrong.  She has been to a regular vet and a internal medican vet.

I think you need to take her back to the internal medicine specialist, it could be a number of things.

Jasper does this every now and then. A couple of days on Hills tinned science plan settles him back. It starts with throwing up bile in the night - usually coz his tummy is too empty then it becomes a bit irritated and so he throws up during the day. The Hills is very bland and sorts it in no time.

Is she thriving and happy otherwise? If yes then it may just be she has a sensitive tum and the Nutro doesn't suit her. If she is otherwise depressed and lethargic or losing weight then I think you need to get another opinion.

If it's not a constant thing - then try giving her bit of food before she goes to bed to see if that works. Jasp has a bit of Nutro before he goes to bed and he's usually fine. If Buddy has food before he goes to bed - he's sick

I know she is a very nervous baby (she is 2 1/2 years old.  I acquired her when she was 1 1/2 years old.   She was a show dog, she hated it, the owner at that time didn't like her.  I really think she was abused at one time because she was so nervous and skittish. She is still apprehensive when someone comes into the house but loves her daddy and mom.

A friend of mine who is a breeder and shows her dogs used to show Misty.  When I asked her to find a cocker for me, she immediately thought of Misty.  We drove 2 days to pick her up.  I was told by the former owner that she got car sick.  She has never gotten car sick.  She was afraid of everything on the trip so I held her most of the time and loved her.  She bonded with me and never wants me out of her sight.  It took a long time for her to bond with my husband.  We both love her SOOO much.  She is a wonderful inteligent baby.

This is our 3rd cocker.  Both the others got so old they went to heaven.

Anyway it breaks my heart to see her throw up.  Otherwise she is healthy, happy and a little devil.    ;)

We are in constant touch with our vet's office.  Appreciate all info in this problem.
