Sorry to hear William's recovery is being made more difficult because of this.  Its so annoying when things like this happens when all it would've taken is another 5-10 minutes to read his complete history and formulate a different strategy.... vets at times drive me nuts  >:D >:D

Hope William's neck heals up ok, and the actual area where they operated heals quickly for him. Send gentle squidges for your gorgeous boy  :bigarmhug:

I'd be upset too about them doing something you'd not agreed to or known about.

TBH the soreness on his neck'll be bothering him more than the op I would have thought too.
Morgan had pyoderma, so his skin would go greasy and clump the fur together, so you do have to be careful with it.

Kisses to the poorly boy  :-*

Really pleased that the vets have now annotated his notes, so you can be reassured that nothing like this should happen again  ;)

I have lost count of the number of times I have almost said something and then either forgotten to say, or felt like it was fussing or whatever, only for it to become evident that if I had said what I intended, a subsequent problem would never have arisen - and I know I feel very angry with myself for the whole matter, so I hope you are being kind to yourself Elaine.

I don't know how many vets and vet nurses work at your practice, nor how substantial William's notes are, but these factors might go some way to explain why the team operating on him yesterday may have been unaware of the previous medical history  :dunno:  I am so sorry that this incident has happened to William, and I guess the cautionary tale for us all is never to assume that the person treating your pet knows everything about them and their- actually that applies in our own interactions with our doctors as well - not least because they are only human  :D

Gentle hugs to William and I hope that Louis is being sensitive to his big brother's predicament.

Poor William, hope his cream soothes his sore path and makes him feel better.  Hopefully he will soon forget he has been in hospital.

He's become a lot more relaxed in the last few hours  with no more whimpering and pacing, although every so often he suddenly gets up and trots a few paces with his tail down before trying to scratch his sore patch. But even that is now only once or twice every hour, which is a big improvement.

I bathed the area with diluted Hibiscrub, patted it dry and applied some Fuciderm immediately before feeding him at about 6.00pm. Feeding him straight afterwards distracted him from wanting to scratch immediately. Fingers crossed for a better night than last night :D

Sorry Elaine I haven't been on here recently, so didn't get to see this. Sorry to hear William has been having a tough time. Hopefully the itch will improve over night and he will be better in the morning.

Fingers crossed for good results next week

Get well soon William  :luv:

I cant work out why they used under his neck to take bloods from .... Back in July when Lady had to have a fairly severe op, they used both front legs ... 1 to take blood from and the other for the IV drip.
