Season Question
« on: February 04, 2005, 08:51:41 AM »
hi. just wondered if anyone can help. my bitch had her first season at 8 1/2 months.she is now 14 months, and no sign of  her 2nd season yet.on her last season she was heavy but bleed only 5 days. i also have a 8 month old bitch and no season what so ever. but could my older one be waiting for my younger one to come into season, or does'nt it make any difference. i know every bitch is different, but should'nt my older one be showing some signs of coming into season.
or can they go longer, would this mean a hormonal problem, and can they skip a season altogether ?
any advise greatley appriciated.

A bitch won't wait for another to come in season :)  A bitch in season can bring another into season if she was due.

I have never had a bitch with 6 monthly seasons, mine go 7 - 12 months. My solids have seasons more regulary than the pati colours.

The time between the first and second season is usually ( in my personal experience ) a good indicator of how long they will go between future seasons. I have not had any bitches " skip " a season but know of bitches that have irregular seasons and some that have silent seasons  i.e no colour and very little swelling.

Tracey :)
