Warning Rawhide Chews B&M
« on: September 30, 2012, 11:05:14 PM »
I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but i feel it is very important that you should all be made aware of this

Its scary to think of the damage that could have been done with what you think is a harmless treat for your dog

Thanks for the warning - have to say I don't usually buy pet treats from these kind of stores, I never feel happy with the chance I may be taking. (What they are made of basically)

I usually buy the Goodboy knots, tho recently have not bought so many - giving him F4D fish twists instead - but they don't last him as long.

That picture looks nasty, were the offending chews  from a store in the UK?

I don't give rawhide chews, had dogs nearly choke on them in the past.

Yes the chews were bought in the UK. This is a shop I go into but not for dog treats and I don't buy my dogs these type chews myself, as I was always led to believe they can cause worms. I know its not true but it has always stuck with me from a child, so even when some one give one to my dog I take it and say thank you and later I put it in the bin

Have to admit that I have bought the drumstick treats from B&M, as the breeder said she let the pups have them for their teeth.

Will definitely not be buying them again after this report.  Thank you so much for posting.

Thanks for the warning - although I also don't buy dog treats from bargain stores, it's worth knowing!

These chews are sold in lots of shops so its worth avoiding the at all costs I think whether they are bought in Waitrose or B&M.

Quite frightening really....thinking you are buying a treat for your dog....then potentially being responsible for poisoning them.   :'(

I've never heard of B&M  ph34r Wonder what it was? Lead shot? Odd way for the animal to be killed?

lets hope their findings get out into the public domain.
To know whether it is dodgey foreign stock or a nutter loose in the shop/factory

Think this is the one - they have stores all over the place in UK & Ireland

with 1 tiny ball of lead?  I'm sorry but this just doesn't ring true to me either....although I wouldn't buy those little shoe things anyway.

When I was a kid our German Shorthaired Pointer got shot in the neck - he was out working (during duck shooting season) and another shooter broke all the rules and shot at something that he thought was a duck on the ground and it was our dog.  He had an 8 hour operation to remove the pellets and lived - the point of this story is that the vet told us it was impossible to get each and every lead pellet out and that he would always have some floating around his body.  He did not die of lead poisoning  ;)
