Title: Weight & size
Post by: admark on July 22, 2004, 09:44:58 AM
Hi everyone, is there a place where you can refer to the correct(average) weight / size and mnoths / years of a cockers life. I am sure it is somewhere out there, we are wanting to know the correct (average) weight/size for a typically 4 month old cocker bitch.

They all grow up differently. My Sylvi, soon 4 months is already quite tall (34cm) and she weighs about 7,5 kgs.
My Kukka at the same age was 32cm/9kgs ( ).

There's no such thing really as a typical cocker bitch when you see all the different sizes out there.

Mine are now 1 and 2 years old and are around the 10 kg mark!

Hi
Im a bit worried bout Jessies weight. She 1 in the middle of Aug and is around 14/15inches high (ermmm thats 35/37 cm i think in new money! :)  ) and she weighs over 12kg...more like 12.5kg.   She is bigger and heavier than ALL other cockers i have met and picked up! :?
She has 150g of adult nutro split across 2 meals...50g for breakfast and 100g for tea. She does seems hungry but she would eat the bag if I gave it to her lol...she is a greedy cocker   we are watching how many treats she gets also.
Does this sound ok? Is she a fatty..she does look a bit round lol
Cheers Janey and Jessie

Some Cockers are bigger boned & generally have a sturdier frame than others so will naturally be heavier than one with a finer frame. Cocker puppies should look well-rounded but as long as you can feel her ribs ok, Jessie is absolutely fine. No-one can tell you if she is fat by how heavy she is - we'd need to see her & feel her :D

Hi,
The guide for adult female cockers is between 12 and 15 kg.
But as other people have said they are all made slightly different, so if your dog looks right then I guess its weight is fine.
