Teething pup and being sick
« on: March 25, 2014, 04:09:36 PM »
Harri is 5 months old....just! The last few days he hasn't been himself, by this I mean he has been waking up really early and not settling after he has been out,  has been sick a couple of times not that this has put him off his food and his toilet training has just gone pear shaped!!!! Is this normal for a teething pup as this isn't normal for Harri. Any suggestions? Also he is chewing all his toys to bits, I'm lucky he hasn't nibbled anything other than his toys though!!!!
Help!!!
Louise and Harri

Hi Louise, just read you post and gutted there's no replies because Gilby is acting exactly the same!! He's also just 5 months, the past week or so toilet training had gone out the window with weeing and pooing everywhere, and he's been sick 3 times today?! Did you manage to find anything out or find a solution?

I'm so sorry this one was missed!

Yes, it's all perfectly normal - teething can make them feel really out of sorts.  Physically it can upset their stomachs and they will have really painful gums and this may turn them into snapping turtles that are frustrated and confused  ;)

You can re-direct the chewing so they don't destroy the house and you can give them things that are really soothing.  Frozen raw carrots is a good one, or a kong with frozen goodies inside, or a knotted teatowel soaked and frozen.

It will pass - and it isn't pleasant, just like a baby teething.  Razor sharp teeth sawing their way through tender gums isn't nice plus these puppies are losing milk teeth all at once.

You will both get through it  ;)

Aah big hugs to Harris and Gilby hope they are both feeling more themselves soon.

Just as an afterthought have you tried a carrot cold from the fridge. Hope it might help  :bigarmhug:
