The classes are good fun, and it would be great if a cocker could make it to the finals again in 2008!
GCDS Special Pre-Beginner Stakes 2007
Heats of the Kennel Club Special Pre-Beginner Obedience Stakes 2007 are now confirmed. Since its introduction in 2005, this competition has encouraged Bronze Award achievers to take part in Obedience competitions. It builds on the basic training skills learnt through the Good Citizen Dog Scheme and helps to bridge the gap between basic training and entering a competition. Response to the heats in previous years has been very encouraging resulting in over 1,500 entries.
Each heat (or each split part) offers one qualifying place to a Border Collie/Working Sheepdog and one qualifying place to an ABC (Anything But a Collie), which includes any type of crossbreed (an amendment to the 2006 rules).
A trophy for the winner, rosettes and prize cards (1st –10th place) are awarded for each class. The qualifiers from each heat will receive a certificate and an invitation to compete in one of the semi finals due to be held in November. The top ten BC/WSDs and the top ten ABCs from each semi final will be invited to take part in the Grand Final which is due to be held at Crufts 2008.
