Not a jokey one this but a questionaire to give an indication of your dog's prey, pack, fight and flight drives. I'm not to sure how much you can read into the results but I found it quite interesting to do.

Click on where it says "online version" in orange and it will keep a tally of the scores as you go along.

Where did you read that Gill?  I never got anything else after the scores  :?

Yes Barb, he's stopped now, but only because I've locked him out of the kitchen so he can't see the dog through the patio doors now  :wink: .  I've chased him away twice but he keeps coming back.  He doesn't even have a tag so that I can phone his owners.  It's a shame 'cos he's a lovely friendly dog, but I can't take my pair out when he's there - so Cooper's been piddling on the paper tonight - not ideal!  :(  :?

Your dog's drives
Prey   = 70
Pack   = 70
Defense - Fight  = 35
Defense - Flight = 25

Although i don't think its very accurate/relevent Jazz is only 14 weeks old...

interesting to know about the behaviours though.

Tilly got Prey-40, Pack-80, Defence fight - 10, flight - 25

Reading through the blurb on the opening page I would say this is not surprising.  Tilly is quite happy to be at the bottom of the pack, both with humans and other dogs, but she is not completely subservient and although she is generally eager to please, she does have her "Kevin" moments.  I have never met a dog less likely to fight, so I am surprised she even scored a 10!  Although she is fairly bomb-proof on her walks and little bothers her, she had a good "flight" moment the other day when we passed a broken-down car with its bonnet up - she was hiding behind my legs in a flash, bless her.  Having said that, later she was very brave and barked like crazy when protecting me from a feral bin-bag that was menacing us from where it was caught in the hedge across the road!  Maybe she only picks those fights she knows she can win.....

Good fun!

This site has the same test but also gives a further guide for interpreting the results ( see both the top and bottom of the page ) .......

http://www.angelfire.com/ky/bestfriendsobe...nce/drives.html

Jimmy; Prey 30.  Pack 65. Fight 45. Flight 50.
Misty  ; Prey 45.  Pack 85. Fight 30. Flight 20.

I must admit I was a bit surprised at Jimmy's low prey drive given his fondness for chasing sheep etc . :roll:  Maybe this indicates that he could be trained out of it by reinforcing his pack instincts over his prey drive. Easier said than done methinks. It says a high pack drive is ideal for a pet or PAT dog, I'd love to get Misty involved in the PAT scheme although at the moment I think I'd be hard pressed to stop her jumping all over the patients. :oops:

this was quite useful and interesting!
Millie scored

Prey 45
Pack 70
Fight 10
Flight 15

Jenni scored

Prey 30
Pack 75
Fight 10
Flight 20

I think here flight though is because she's a puppy and everything is new to her. We took her out for her very first walk yesterday! :) and we were practising recall in a big field - we stood about 10m apart and called her and Millie each in turn (this sounds easier than it was, as we each had one dog then called the other - must have made excellent watching for anyone who happened to see us! :D)
Anyway at one point I called Jenni and she started to bound over, she got about halfway and I kept calling her and lent forward with my arms outstretched, she immediately stopped and started to run back to Tris. I kept on calling and knelt down with my arms still open, but my body upright and she started bounding over again happily. This was her flight thing kicking in, so we need to remember not to bend over or towards her, something we hadn't thought of before.
So, Cool! thanks Colin :)
