So worried about Jessie. She has been off her food even her treats as well. Has a cough and temperature. Bloods came back tonight not good. Very anaemic red cells are being produced but gathering in groups . She is fighting an infection of some kind. I have just had to leave her at the vet and she is such a nervous dog she will be so frightened. They are running in house blood tests and scanning her stomach. Just so worried The house is empty. Please send her some healing thoughts and prayers. She is 12 now. 7 years in a puppy farm and 5 years with me.

Jessie says thank you for thinking of her. I fetched her home at 11.30pm yesterday. The did more blood tests still can't make out what's wrong. The ultra sound of her stomach was difficult to read as she had had a bit of her dinner earlier in the evening. She is still not right today. We go back to vet on Tuesday for a repeat of last night and she will have to stay with them for a few hours. These dear souls can cause you so much worry.

I am glad she is back home, you will both be happier and Jessie will be less stressed. I hope she starts to pick up. X

Jessie just home. Scan of stomach fine. She has anemia haemolytic immunoemediared . Her vet thinks maybe from her yearly injection which she had 2 weeks ago. She is on a course of steroids and goes back in 10 days. She is feeling better and is starting to eat again.
So relieved that it's nothing very nasty.Thank you all for your kind messages.

Glad Jessie is home now the stress has gone I'm sure she will be back to her old self,
Could I ask for more info on her condition as I've not heard of it before ?
Sharon.

Oh bless her, glad that has come back as nothing sinister and that Jessie is improving. Not heard of that before, so info would be very useful. Xx

This is the info that my vet gave me . IMHA immune mediated haemolytic anaemia Is one of the most common autoimmune diseases in dogs. Severe anaemia caused by products of antibodies targeting red blood cells. Middle aged cockers prone to . He said that because she had her yearly jabb within the last 2 weeks it might have made it worse.
I read more about it on the vet times web site and Cambridge Uni site.
Today she started her steroids . Much happier and eating again. My vet is Spanish and it's not always the easiest to understand!

The vaccination Jessie had was Nobivac . The vet only suggested that it might have caused the anaemia. She is fine now but the steroid pills certainly make her drink a lot and make her pant a lot. She is so much better though.
-
Pleased she's well again - sadly cockers do suffer from autoimmune illnesses (one of mine had similar -IMTP in his cases, which is immune-mediated thrombocytopena - where his platelets went to zero due to a urine infection and he started to bleed out)
-
Glad to hear she is home with the family
