scary walk
« on: November 18, 2012, 06:48:15 PM »
Pepper has always barked at bikes but today he went chasing off and got hit by a bike. he was fine and the cyclist was fine, but it is really worrying the cyclist i think was aiming to cycle fast past. i do  not blame him at all , but this was on a country path on the downs, so he was a bit unexpected. obviously we keep him on the lead of we see a bike or call him to us, but today he ignored calls and went dashing after the bikes. any ideas?

Glad Pepper and the cyclist were both OK, must have been frightening though.

The only thing I can think of is to be extra vigilant and when you see a cyclist approaching recall as you normally do for cyclists, put him on lead to be on the safe side and get him to do a sit and wait next to you on a loose lead and praise when he gets it right. So really just reinforcing what's always worked for you in the past, hopefully ensuring yesterday was a one off.

Do any of your family own a bike? Perhaps you could set up a situation to do some training with him?
