Title: coat changes after castration.
Post by: *MaryG* on June 10, 2011, 02:38:37 PM
I have been warned that pepper's coat will change a lot now he has been castrated. Is there anything I can do to try and keep it as nice as possible?

Taz was castrated 3 years ago, and i cannot say i have noticed any difference in his coat.  I try and keep on top of his top half, but his legs have always been really fluffy.  Having a trim tonight.

I would avoid shaving him though as that definately does make it worse

Thanks...that is encouraging....I don't want to have Pepper shaved so maybe I will have to do some of it myself in the future(!)

Saartje is spayed a year ago and I can't handstrip her back anymore, the hair is stuck! I still can handstripe her head. To get a nice short and smooth back I use a coatking. Her feathers are beautiful as ever.

My boy was castrated just over a year ago, not a great change in coat, not quite as sleek, but no probs. My last cocker was female and her coat turned curly within months.
