hello all, its been a while since i was here! max is a year old now i had him castrated as i didnt want him getting out and well finding a bitch on heat... well the thing is max is chewing his tail to the extent its raw[bleeding] we have taken him to the vet and he has a dish round his neck and some cream and 2 diffrent kinds of tablets...! he chews his tail at night when we are in bed and when we leave him/ he has more than enough chews/toys and does interact with other dogs?? he is a nervous dog as is his mum. any idea's??. valerie xx

I would put it down to stress. My Meg will lick her feet if something is upsetting her.
Does he suffer with separation anxiety at all, if not outwardly, but this may be his way of trying to deal with it - by diverting his attention to somewhere else.

I assume the vet checked his anal glands for blockage/infection or worms
