Duck tape ....that should do the trick  ;)  :011:

Good to see you again Sue
Purdeys one of those 'talkative' cockers  >:(  Agree she does it for attention sometimes but she also 'talks a lot' when playing & when generally interacting with humans & it may seem daft but she does seem to enjoy a good conversation IYKWIM  :dunno:  :D
From the many different cockers I've met, to me it seems that show type are much gobbier vocal than the working lines - I believe I'm right in saying this is desirable in the breed due to the job they are bred to do .......... somehow I don't quite think Purdey would be very welcome on a shoot

Another one here... Maggie does her best attempt at a woo woo woo with a ball in her mouth, the rest of the time its too yappy!

I have the same gobby problem with Maggie Sue... and its something we are working on but its really hard because it needs such consistency.  Maggie barks when we are out at the park and she's bored, but also then if you play with her, through excitement. I'm trying the ignore technique, but that needs everyone to ignore her when she does it and not go "oooohhhh Maggie's got lots to say for herself today.... blah blah blah" because she's getting exactly what she wants. And just to demnstrate the whole any attention is good attention point... For a few days I decided to put her on her lead if she barked and let her off again a few minutes later, then it suddenly struck me on the third day that she was happy as larry when I put her on the lead, she walked nicely and loved it... because she'd got my attention!
Luckily for me it is just when we're out and not an issue round the house or out visiting.

Lovely to hear from you I really miss your photos of Skye and Chloe, as for barking I lost poor Jenny but have Penny and she only barks at doggs on television as Jenny was a real barker.

Gari used to bark in to his water bowl when he was taking a drink and heard something outside - it was like when I used to blow into my glass of milk with a straw as a child, and make it "bubble", so funny! :005:

We tried teaching the 'speak' command to get our little girl to stop barking. We succeeded in teaching her to bark on command, for a treat of course, but it absolutely failed at keeping her from barking at any other time when she feels like it (like the postman, wind, tv, etc.)!

I've given up now and just accepted that she is a very talkative little cocker!

Unfortunately, George and Hamish have both mastered the art of barking with balls in their mouths, usually, when i have dared to stop to talk to someboday and not throwing their balls for them  ph34r :005:

We taught the speak command to Ollie,  the quiet does work,  but not at agility!  :005:  He barks and stamps his paws at agility, desperate for his go!  >:D oh and he did it at the meet yesterday when I dared give his lead to someone else while took a group pic! I give him a tennis ball at agility,  we then spend time with him dropping it onto my foot for it to roll towards him.

Sorry Sue,  absolutely no help at all!
