Hi folks. Maddy couldn't post as she has poor internet connection.
She is worried about Willow. They went for a meal last night, and before leaving the pub noticed that Willow's eyes were swollen and red. When they got back they saw bite like marks all over her genital area. She has some in her mouth too.
There was a hanging basket by their table with trailing plants, but apart from that Maddy has no idea what it could be. She has been in touch with a local vet who said to give Willow Piriton. Willow is lethargic....but she thinks that might be due to Piriton.
She wonders if anyone here can say what it might be.
-
So sofry to hear this I thought it was a col dog could be an insect ants and cause nasty reaction she loo.ks as she has laico them Hope you find a vet and sending.
-
Thanks Joan. I thought it might have been that she disturbed an ants nest too.
Hopefully she'll get it all sorted soon. Poor little Willow. Her eyes look awful. Xx
-
Ooh, that looks painful, bless her :luv: Hope the meds relieve her and she's feeling better soon. Hugs to Maddy too :bigarmhug:
-
Poor Willow, she looks very uncomfortable. I think insects are the most likely cause. Hope the Piriton does the trick :D
-
Sorry to read that gorgeous Willow is unwell. Sending big hugs to Maddy and Willow and hoping she is soon back to her happy, waggy self. Dians xx
-
oo she does indeed look poorly
poor little lamb..
I hope she improves quickly.
Hey Maureen if you speak to
Maddy again could you give her our best wishes
Thanks xxx
-
Will do. :luv: :luv:
I'll pass everything on to her. Xx
-
Poor little Willow :'( Looking at the picture, I would think an allergic reaction to some kind of insect bite. If the bite like marks are on her genital area and in her mouth ..... that would suggest to me, that she sat on something ...... then tried to eat whatever had bitten her bum? Hopefully the Piriton will work.
Sending :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: to Willow and Maddy (via Maureen!) :luv: xx
-
What a worry when you're on holiday, I do hope Willow improves quickly. Ants of course spray formic acid when they're under threat which would cause irritation, but the Piriton should take effect fairly quickly if it is insect or plant allergy reaction.
Keep us updated on progress Maureen.

Hope Willow is OK and it's an easily sorted allergy. Her eye looks bad, poor girl x
-
Thanks everyone. Have passed on your thoughts.
They are almost convinced that Willow has disturbed and ants nest. Both Maddy and Darren have raised rashes too now. :luv:
-
Sounds like ants to me too x pass on a big hug to them all from me and Jinley w
-
Hmm ..... if it were ants and Maddy & Darren now have rashes, I'd have thought they'd have noticed if they had ants crawling on them :dunno:
Whereabouts are they Maureen?
-
"Curiouser her and curiouser"
The mystery deepens, I think ant bites have a definite pain, maybe the grown-up be able to tell, it's almost an ache.
Hope they all feel better soon, lots of these :bigarmhug: to them all.

Oh bless her, I put my hand in an ants' nest once, was very unpleasant. Hope it goes down soon, poor girl x
-
Poor Willow, that looks very unpleasant. Hope the piriton does the trick. X
-
Owch, poor a Willow. What a worry. I too send hugs and hope the Piriton soon kicks in. X
-
Wendy.....sorry, I forgot to ask where they are. :005:
Could be Bournemouth way, I think.
Maddy said Willow is feeling better now. The swelling on her genital area swelled to three times that of normal size OUCH!
She seems to think the Piriton is doing the trick.
I'll keep you posted if I hear more.
Thanks all for input and suggestions though. Xx
-
What a thing to happen on your hols, poor little Willlow - it does look painful. Hoping everything will calm down soon and they can continue to enjoy their hols :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:
-
Thank youfor letting us now My cousin sat on a ants nest when little andshe swelled in places, glad the piriton is working and hope Maddy and Oh will be more comfortable aswell Luckily we don't have them here, you got them in the house and everywhere xx
-
Poor Willow, her eyes look so sore. Its bad enough having a poorly doggie when you are at home but twice the worry when you are on holiday, away from your trusted vet. Do hope the Piriton contiues to achieve more improvement today.
-
Just heard from Maddy by text.
All is well. It seems that Willow has recovered really well.
She is sorry she can't get on to thank you all personally at the moment, but she is aware of all your good wishes and suggestions. X
-
Good news, thanks for the update.
-
Great thanks, I was going to try to contact her to find out. Sounds like insect bites then.
-
Glad everything is now ok
-
Thank you for all your well wishes. We finally have internet.
Willow seems fine now. Still had swelling around her face yesterday then lessoned during the day. Apart from a tiny bit of swelling in her mouth today she is back to full strength.
Really not sure what it was that bit her or us. We didnt feel anything and i dont think willow did either as she was sat on a blanket on a chair right infront or our eyes the whole time.
Willow had about 20 bites when we checked her over. The ones on her tummy and neck and shoulders were not inflammed only the ones on her lady bits, eye and mouth. ( the more sensitive areas).
Thank doG for piriton and sudocrem. :D
All a bit scary when you are on holiday at a campsite without enough phone signal to ring out.
-
So relieved she's ok now Maddy. Big hugs from us all. :luv: :luv:x

Thank you for all your well wishes and lovely comments.
Not the best of holidays with the weather being quite wet and then Willow being unwell. Never mind!! :-\
We are home now, so glad to get Willow bathed and have a good look at her through clean fur!! Everywhere healed nicely now. Although after her bath and drying her off I noticed a big raised bite/hole on one of her front legs. Removed the scab with warm water and put lots of sudocrem on. Hadn't noticed this when were were away. Just looks angry and exposed! Different to the other bites on her!!
-
Just seen this madd6. How worrying. Glad willow is on the mend.x

Just seen this, poor Willow and you too :016: so pleased, that she is starting to feel better :luv:

Glad she's feeling better. :luv: Could the hole be the entry point for a grass seed do you think? When Archie had one in his paw he had a nasty raised hole. We never found the seed so it seems it came out on its own. It was much bigger than a bite, although I'm not sure it could cause the reaction that poor Willow had?

Not sure re a seed. It does seem to be healing with sudocrem but is still quite raised and she likes to have a little nibble at night !!
Thank you, Stephanie, George and hamish xx
