Sharing a Lottie update
« on: May 13, 2014, 05:52:23 PM »
After our nightmare weekend in Wales where Lottie (and Sapphie to a lesser extent) barked and lunged at everyone and everything, and after our less than successful behaviourist sessions, we decided drastic measures were needed.
Both dogs are currently on a residential training/behaviour management course. They've been there since Saturday, and today they have progressed to this:

I'm certainly pleased so far. They have a lot of confidence building to go but it's a good start.

Is this a course that you attend with them or do they take the dogs for the week? I hope things work out well for you x

No they stay there without me (it's also a dog hotel) and it isn't encouraged that you visit as it puts them off.
They share photos of them every day and today called me to give me an update, they're pleased with their progress.
They have stooge dogs but I'm pretty sure not all the dogs in the picture are stooge dogs which is great.
It's costing a fortune but it had great reviews and if it works it will be worth every penny.
When I pick them up the trainer spends a few hours with me going through everything that they've learnt and making sure there will be consistency at home. Then I have 6 months back up with the trainer.
To be honest as you'd imagine we're really missing them, but I was at my wits' end what to do about Lottie and even thinking the unthinkable that she might have to be rehomed so we had to try this.

Today's photos show them with a few more dogs, though they still obviously aren't joining in playing and Lottie seems to sit in front of whoever's on duty and wait for a stroke rather than interacting with the dogs. Still, she doesn't have to love them, she just has to tolerate them I guess.

Today's progress:

Sapphie doesn't look happy, bless her. :(  I have to keep telling myself it's for her own good.

Really hoping this works for you. You've done so much for them both and they couldn't wish for a more loving home.

By the way, both are beautiful but Lottie (I think Lottie is the orange?)is an absolute stunner. I love her pale face and dark ears. She is so pretty  :luv: :luv:
