I don't know if this has come up before, but I caught Monty eating sheep poo when out in a field! Is this normal?! Pretty disgusting if it is! He had previously been having treats, by the way, so surely not THAT hungry!!

Well, Pickle loves rabbit droppings - eats them as if they were chocolate raisins!!! Dont think it is a hunger thing - just another 'explorative' Cocker tendency perhaps??!!
Am sure it wont do them any harm in small doses?

Just be sure to give worm pills now and then (ask vet how frequent), cause not all sheep are treated against worms, and if not they can be worm factories.   :|

Despite looking as though butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, Tilly will eat any type of dung, given half a chance.  When we took her to Derbyshire for a long weekend last Autumn she ate sheep droppings and had a very upset tummy for a few days afterwards. So, now I try to anticipate where there might be "nasties" lurking and put her on the lead as we go past as she can't be trusted!  Not always easy on a country walk.

Hope Monty doesn't suffer any ill effects.

Thanks for your replies, folks! Monty doesn't seem to have suffered any ill effects, but I'll take your advice about worming him, plus will be keeping a close eye on him next time he's in a field previously vacated by sheep!
