Title: Robbies - total ear canal ablation
Post by: ellicott on November 04, 2006, 02:05:05 PM
Robbie has just had a total ear canal ablation yesterday !
Has anybody had any experience as to how the recovery goes.
He seems very bewildered which of course is because he has lost all hearing in that ear now and was discovered that his other ear drum had ruptured so virtually no  hearing in that one.
He had a vary large polyp in the bad ear so he would have been limited on hearing.
Any advice on dealing with his lack  of hearing . We tried a dog whistle this morning but nothing registered. I guess hand signals
He is nearly 9 and has a 2 year old companion  Rosie so this will help him. He has not made any sound which as he was the noisiest dog in neighbourhood is not all bad!
Do you think he will bark again?
Any one out there had any experience with this op.

Poor Robbie. Is the hearing loss going to be permanant or just due to swelling etc?

No advice from me either I'm afraid. Do hope he feels well soon. Must be very bewildering for him.
