Very poorly boy
« on: March 03, 2014, 05:09:54 PM »
Bailey my 10 year old cocker has suddenly become unwell, he is struggling to stand properly and can't manage steps like he used to, he is really not happy in himself and can't get comfortable when lying down, he is not the bubbly little spaniel he was. We took him to the vets last week when it started and she examined him thoroughly to check for breaks slipped discs etc and she just thought he may have pulled a muscle and gave him pain relief which he has been having all weekend however he is no better, his mobility hasn't got any better and he is so sad and cries out when we pick him up to take him to bed, he is eating small amounts and drinking but we have to take it to him because he wouldn't if we didn't , we took him back to the vet again today and she is going down the infection route now and is trying him with antibiotics, she said his mobility should have improved by now after five days of pain relief and rest, she gave him a shot of antibiotic and some more pain relief, she also took a blood test this time  :'( so we now have to wait for the results of this to see if they can find what's wrong with him.... It's so sad to see him like this he was such a happy and busy little boy and loved to greet us with his waggy tail and crazy howling when we came home, now he doesn't have the energy to do it and is so quiet, I wish I knew what was wrong with him  :'(

Poor boy.  It is horrible when they are unwell, and even worse when we are not sure why.

I hope they get him sorted soon, and that his waggy tails gets into motion again.

Bug hugs. X

Sorry to read Bailey is poorly. It's horrible when you don't know what it is that's wrong. You miss the cocker bounciness so much. :-\ Hopefully the vet will find something and be able to help him.

:'(I hope so, it's breaking my heart to see him like this, he has always been a strong dog and never let anything phase him, he lost his sight two years ago and he just gets on with it, always happy as long as we are around him :'(
