Bailey is home from the vets a little bit perkier following the fluids, got to go back in again for another day of iv fluids tomorrow, his had to have further blood test to check if it's pancreatitis as the bloods he had yesterday showed that it could be,,she has given him some antibiotic and something for sickness... Here still won't eat or drink, worried he is going to go back to square one if he doesn't have fluids, just wish they could get to the bottom of it he is so sad, thank you everyone for your kind words xxx

What is the prognosis for pancreatitis? What happened with your pebbles following diagnosis? Xx

Poor baby :bigarmhug:. Fingers crossed you get a diagnosis soon :luv:

Brodie had pancreatitis last year. Basically it means avoiding any fatty foods and keeping them on a low fat diet. Brodie was on Royal Canin gastrointestinal wet food until her levels went back to normal (took a few weeks), and then was moved onto NatureDiet sensitive/lite. No treats whatsoever until those levels came down. My basic rule of thumb is 5% fat or less for food, and around 1% fat for treats.

Hopefully it isn't pancreatitis, but if it is they can live perfectly normal lives once the diet has been sorted, although you do have to have eyes on the back of your head to make sure they don't eat anything they shouldn't!

There are a few of us on here who have had dogs with it, so if your boy does have it hopefully we can answer any other questions you have. Really hope he is feeling better very soon.

Kali has had it about 4 times now to varying degrees. One very acute attack and a couple mild..although still very painful. I have never altered their food but just cut out any fatty additions. Some dogs have it once and never again. After the second time I became expert at spotting it. I had her in before the blood test got to borderline!

Eating had been a problem with Kalis last bout. Poppsie is right, I think they get scared to eat....but they will. My vets keep her in for a few days on the continuous drip as its important to rest their tummies. After that I keep her on boiled fish and rice for a week or so (little and often) and then add her biscuits two by two! Takes ages but I would rather that than rush her.

:luv: update on my gorgeous boy, collected him from the vets today following another day on iv fluids, well what can I say he looks so much better and he has eaten a tiny amount at the vets today, he took his own cannula out lol and was scratching the cage to get out lol  >:D I think I'm getting my boy back :luv:, still awaiting confirmation of whether it is pancreatitis, the vet hopes it will be back tomorrow... Hopefully he will continue to improve, mobility is still not brilliant but I'm sure he will get that back soon  :luv: :luv: sp pleased, he has to return to the vets tomorrow for another check and some more antibiotics and he is allowed a spoon full of the special dog meat four times per day, things are looking up and thanks once again for all your support and kind words xxx
