Advice please, possible wasp sting in mouth
« on: September 01, 2014, 07:45:24 PM »
I have just been playing ball with Meg on the garden and when we'd finished she started nibbling some grass. She suddenly started coughing and we thought she had a bit caught when suddenly out dropped a wasp! She seems fine and is now chewing a chew but should I give her piriton in case it has stung her throat? It was about 10 minutes ago would I know by now if it had stung her? My nephew said that was causing her to cough as it was tickling her mouth  :005:

I would dab some vinegar on it first if you can and, if you are not sure if she was stung or not, just keep a close eye on her for any swelling etc.  If you think she has been stung, then you can give her a child's dose of Piriton (needs to be the drowsy one, not the non drowsy   ;) )

Hope she is OK.

Thank you joules, I'm keeping a close eye on her, she seems to be okay as she is still chewing but piriton is at the ready just in case.

Brodie decided to try and eat a wasp last week >:(. She was in a lot of pain, poor girl. I gave her a piriton immediately (these were from the vet) and then on advice from Facebook took her collar off (in case she did take a reaction) and gave her ice cubes. The ice cubes really did help a lot. I couldn't find where she was stung in her mouth (I suspect it was more than once) but if I had and it was accessible I would have applied vinegar

Here's hoping it's cured her of her habit of chasing bees and wasps >:D

Hope Meg is ok, and any pain soon goes away :luv:

Thank you joules and jennybee, It appears the wasp did indeed just tickle her mouth and didn't sting her, a lucky escape I think!
